Hello everyone! I’m back after a short little break from blogging over Christmas. I hope you all had a lovely time and ate and drank loads! Unfortunately, I was quite unwell so I didn’t have the best Christmas but it was still a lovely day and I got some wonderful presents which I will share with you all very soon! Seeing as it’s New Years Eve and 2015 is coming to a close, I thought I would do a 2015 favourites post instead of the usual monthly favourites. 2015 was a great year and was the first year I really got in to make up and became rather addicted! So, it was also the year my bank balance started to hate me. I really did spend a lot of money on make up this year so my New Years resolution is to reduce how much I spend.. I can’t wait to see how well I stick to that.
Not gonna happen. Without further a do, here’s my 2015 favourites. You might wanna grab a cuppa, this is gonna be a long one..
As I mentioned before, 2015 was the year I really got into make up. My first ‘big’ purchase was the stunning Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. This has become my most used palette as it’s great at creating looks for both day and night. My favourite shades are probably ‘Buzz’ and ‘Trick’.
This year, there were a few new launches that I completely fell in love with. For mascara, it was Benefit’s Roller Lash aka the best mascara ever. I need to buy the full size soon! And as for blushes it was all about Max Factor and H&M. The Creme Puff blushes and H&M’s cream blusher were my most reached for in 2015. My favourite shades ‘Lovely Pink’ and ‘Dusty Rose’ add a lovely pop of colour to the cheeks whilst remaining natural and subtle. Perfect for a pale girl like myself!
As for bases, I’ve been using tinted moisturisers a lot this year especially during the warmer months. First up was a new launch from Bareminerals and it’s their Complexion Rescue which everyone seemed to fall in love with and rightly so. If you have dry skin and struggle to keep foundation from flaking which then gives that cakey appearance, give this a try and it will change your life! It has a fair amount of coverage and evens out my skin tone making it look fresh and dewy. A definite repurchase seeing as I’m about to run out!
Another love this year was the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Tinted Moisturiser. Another fabulous base for us dry skinned girls. This tinted moisturiser brightens up dull complexions and evens out skin tones whilst also providing essential moisture.
My favourite lip products of 2015 come from MAC & Maybelline. I bought my first MAC lipstick this year. Yes, my first. And then the obsession began. No other lipstick compares to these and now I see all the fuss which I just didn’t get before. My favourites are ‘Creme Cup’ and ‘Fanfare’. ‘Fanfare’ is a lovely salmon pink shade that I rarely ever see mentioned in the blogging world. Once or twice maybe. This shade needs more love! I definitely recommend that you give this a swatch next time you’re buying a MAC lipstick. ‘Creme Cup’ is definitely more popular and I would best describe it as a subtle light pink that just adds a lovely wash of colour to the lips. I wear this on days when I just want something on my lips but nothing too noticeable.
Lastly, the Maybelline Color Drama Lip Pencils. Aka the best lip pencils on the high street. Seriously, these are so good. The pigmentation and colour payoff is amazing and as they are super creamy, they glide onto the lips so effortlessly and last for hours. I could rave about these all day, they are that good! I currently have ‘Berry Much‘, ‘Red Essential‘ and ‘In With Coral’ and basically, I need all the shades.
2015 was the year I really began to look after my skin and made a real effort in improving it’s condition. As you can imagine, my skin is much better now then it was at the beginning of the year and these four products I’ve chosen have become staples in my routine and I really don’t think I could live without them now!
Liz Earle’s Cleanse & Polish has now become my go to cleanser. I have many others but this is the one I always reach for. It’s just so effortless at removing make up and for a lazy person like myself, it’s perfect. It leaves my skin feeling soft, clean and hydrated. Theres none of that tightness I find some cleansers can leave behind. It’s just a lovely cleanser and it has definitely become a holy grail product. Another cleanser favourite is Bioderma which I now mainly use to remove make up when I’m not wearing a lot of it or if I feel like doing a double cleanse, I will use this after Cleanse & Polish. This stuff is so good and definitely less irritating and drying then other micellar waters on the market such as the Garnier version.
I couldn’t live without the Nuxe Huile Prodiguese Oil these days. For the short amount of time between owning this huge bottle and my little sample bottle running out was horrible. My skin absolutely loves this. It’s light and non greasy leaving my skin feeling soft and nourished.
The Eucerin Treatment Cream has been a complete life saver for my dry skin this year, especially around the nose area where it can get really rough and cracked. I’ve been using this a few times a day since I bought it and it’s definitely improved it’s condition.
