Mother’s Day in the UK is less than a week away and if you’re wondering what to spoil the most important woman in your life with, I’ve got you covered. Whether she loves receiving fresh flowers, her signature scent or some yummy chocolates, my gift guide has something for everyone and for all budgets.

Let’s start off with perfumes and I always recommend my favourite to any lover of floral, full-bodied scents – Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb. It’s my signature scent and I won’t ever be without a bottle, it’s the most gorgeous perfume ever. If she prefers less florally sweet perfumes, have a look at Calvin Klein’s CK One Gold, it’s a unisex fragrance containing patchouli, bergamot and fig. I had a smell of this whilst on holiday and it’s amazing! Not to mention, the bottle is pretty fab too. Other great perfumes include Dior J’Adore, Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream and Jo Malone Basil & Neroli.

If your Mum is a beauty fiend, there are lots of fab gift sets you can treat her to. Such as the L’Occitaine x Rifle Paper Co Shea Collection which contains a rich body cream, body scrub and hand cream and not only that, it’s all housed in a gorgeous tin designed by Rifle Paper Co. I need this myself! Ted Baker’s Porcelain Rose Garden Toiletries collection is a gorgeous set of lotions, washes and bubble baths.

Other fab beauty gifts include the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette which contains 16 stunning matte and shimmer shades and it also smells delicious! The Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation is a timeless classic and would make a great addition to your mother’s make up bag. You could also take her for an Estee Lauder makeover at a counter near you where she can be shade matched so you can ensure you get the right shade! Throw in a bit of retail therapy and a yummy meal and it’ll be a perfect girly day out.

I think candles can make the perfect gift if the recipient likes them, of course. This would be a big no-no for my own mother! My favourite at the moment is the Diptyque Roses Candle, the scent is beautiful and I just love how luxurious these candles look. The limited edition Rose Delight would make an ideal gift, just look at that packaging! If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly offering, you can’t go wrong with Yankee Candles. The small jars are only £8.99 and come in a range of different, gorgeous scents such as Fresh Cut Roses, Peony and Clean Cotton. If you’re willing to spend a bit more, you can get the large jar candles personalised!

For the more traditional gifts, you can’t go wrong with a lovely bouquet of flowers – stores like Marks & Spencer and Interflora have a great range whatever her favourites may be. Pamper your Mum with a spa day or treat her to some mouth-watering chocolates and sparkling prosecco.

What are you treating your Mum to this Mother’s Day?

It may be nearly March but I said in my Best in Beauty 2017: Makeup post last month that I would share my skincare favourites with you too, so here we are! I tried out a lot of new brands during the year and also stuck with a few favourites from the likes of Lush and Botanics. My biggest skincare discovery of the year had to be The Ordinary.. who have completely taken over my skincare routine with their budget-friendly products.

Let’s start with the products from one of my favourite retailers – Lush. Over the past few years, not only have I fallen in love with their incredible bath products, I’m a huge fan of their skincare too. Especially the Ultrabland Cleanser. I have had many favourite cleansers, all of which I’ve probably called my ‘holy grail’ at one point or another but this honestly is my holy grail! I’ll always have one in my bathroom drawer. It has a super rich and creamy formula and removes dirt and makeup in an instant, it’s also incredibly refreshing in the mornings! According to Lush, it’s based on an Ancient Greek formula for cold cream and contains ingredients such as Almond Oil and Honey.

The Tea Tree water toner has been pushed aside recently due to testing other similar products however I absolutely love it. Not only is it completely revitalising, it’s brilliant for acne-prone skin with its antibacterial properties. I used this a lot during horrible breakouts that occurred last year and it did seem to help!

The Botanics range at Boots has been a long time favourite and I’ve tried a few products but it’s the All Bright Radiance Serum that is the stand out product, for me. This is my second bottle and it’s got to be my favourite serum that I’ve used. It’s a pretty simple product but it really does make my skin look radiant, I don’t think I’ll buy any other serum from now on especially when you can get one this good for a few quid.

All of Superdrug’s own brand ranges have really impressed me. From the Naturally Radiant to Vitamin E, if you’re on a budget, I’d definitely take a look at these bargain skincare gems. My go to night cream is the Vitamin E Night Cream an intensely rich, non-greasy moisturiser that is high in antioxidants and provides my dry skin with overnight nourishment.

This next product was probably one of the most hyped skincare products of 2017, it’s the Pixi collab with skincare expert and fellow blogger, Caroline Hirons. You can read my full review here. The Double Cleanse is exactly what it says on the tin – a double cleansing product. One side contains a solid cleansing oil and the other, a light cream. It’s a really lovely product but I haven’t been reaching for it a lot lately, only when I’m wearing heavier makeup than normal that needs something a bit extra to remove all traces of it.

I’ve left the best until last.. my new favourite skincare brand, The Ordinary! Like I said before, they’ve pretty much taken over my routine, I think the only thing I don’t use from them is a cleanser (will they release one, I wonder?). Deciem describes The Ordinary as ‘an evolving collection of treatments offering familiar, effective clinical technologies’ and the best part is their products don’t break the bank! Read my full first impressions post here. My favourite product at the moment would probably be the AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution it’s an exfoliating facial treatment that you apply for 10 minutes before rinsing off and leaves you with brighter, even skin. It offers deep exfoliation that is brilliant for reducing blemishes, scarring and over time, the appearance of fine lines.

The Salycic Acid 2% Solution is another great product for targeting blemishes, I used this a bunch when suffering with my breakouts last year and it cleared them up in no time. I 100% recommend this to anyone with acne prone skin.

Have you tried any of these skincare picks?

You’ve probably seen a fair bit of hype around this brand recently and with good reason too. Glossier was launched in the US back in 2014 by the editor of IntoTheGloss, (a site I adore, btw. Check it out!) Emily Weiss. When I first came across Glossier and read that ‘Glowy, dewy skin is our thing’, I was instantly sold. There was only one problem, it wasn’t available in the UK. Damn. Fast forward a year or so and it was announced that Glossier would finally be launching over here and it’s safe to say, I and a lot of other beauty buffs were over the moon. It took me a fair while to decide what to buy as I could literally buy the entire range but y’know, I’m poor so I decided to just stick to four items that stood out the most. Your orders arrive in pink bubble bags which I think is pretty adorable and you get some fun stickers included, too.

I think the first ever product I came across were the Balm Dotcoms and as I’m a complete lip balm hoarder, I knew I had to try them so I bought two. Birthday and The Original. These are multipurpose balms that can not only be used on your lips but as skin salves too. They are full of antioxidants and natural emollients to keep dry skin nourished. The Original is a simple, unscented balm but does the job. Birthday, however, oh my god is amazing. The only downside? It makes me crave cake terribly. This balm smells soooo yummy. I can’t get enough!

I really didn’t need another moisturiser but I liked the fact that this Priming Moisturiser not only hydrates the skin but also preps it for makeup application meaning I can skip using a primer on top and the wait for two different products to sink into the skin. I really love how this feels and it definitely gives a dewy glow! I will use this even if I’m having a makeup-free day due to the fresh appearance it gives. It’s also buildable which is great for my skin type – some days it can be really dry so I’ll need a fair amount but on other days, less is better.

Lastly, I had to try one of the Cloud Paints as I’m a big cream blush fan. These blushes have a gel-cream formula and are a quick and easy way of giving your cheeks a nice pop of colour. You use your fingers to apply this which makes it a great travel option, no blush brush required! I got the shade, Beam which is a lovely apricot shade and it really suits my skin tone. Don’t forget you can win a Cloud Paint Duo in my giveaway.

Right, I’m off to make another order…

Have you tried Glossier?

On 8th February 2015, I published my first ever blog post. I’m surprised I’m still here typing away, actually. I thought I’d of given up a long time ago and whilst I’ve had a few long breaks throughout due to life stresses or writer’s block, I’ve always come back and realised how much I enjoy doing this. But best of all, whenever I go on these breaks, you all still stick around. I never lose one follower and I know it’s not all about the numbers, but I appreciate it so much. It’s so nice to know people actually want to read what I write, so thank you!

This past year, I’ve had some fab opportunities come my way. I’ve worked with some fabulous brands, my favourite being NYX & Debenhams for this post. It was my first major ‘blogger mail’ and I was so over the moon when the email landed in my inbox. I don’t do this for the freebies and I have no intention of making this my career (although if the opportunity arose, I would definitely consider it! But that’s way off yet.) but receiving that parcel made me realise how far I’ve come. I even got invited to my first blogger event in Feb of last year. Unfortunately, I couldn’t go due to work but it looked amazing.

Blogging nowadays is such a huge thing. I can’t believe how much it’s helped me. My confidence has grown, it’s enabled me to improve on so many skills and it’s become an important addition on my CV (if you haven’t added your blog to yours yet, I definitely recommend it!). Whenever I go for interviews, I always get comments on how great my blog is and that just makes me so happy, especially as they’ve taken the time to have a little read before interviewing me!

This year, I hope to get to attend some blogger events and I’d love to make some blogger friends too. (If you live in Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk etc. say hello in the comments? 🙈)

OK, I’m rambling on a bit now. Let’s get to the fun part.. to say thank you, I’m holding a little giveaway for one of you to win all of this:

  • Glossier Cloud Paint Duo in Beam (my fave!) & Dusk.
  • Makeup Revolution Dazzling Lights Collection containing some gorgeous highlighters – Skin Kiss in Champagne and 3 mini liquid highlighters in Mermaid’s Scales, Dragon’s Blood & Pixie Dust.

  • NYX Liquid Suede in Downtown Beauty.
  • NYX Lip Lingerie in Exotic.
