You’ve all probably heard of The Ordinary by now or even tried their products yourself. If not, where have you been? They’re the hottest new budget skincare brand around and I’ve completely fallen in love with their products! Actually, I’m addicted. The Ordinary are part of Deciem, a ’boutique and exciting umbrella of beauty brands’ who call themselves The Abnormal Beauty Company and also feature the likes of Niod and Hylamide. I’ve been trying out some of their products for a few months now and I thought it was about time I shared my first impressions with you..

Salicylic Acid 2% Solution |
Let’s start with the favourite, shall we? A must have for anyone who suffers from breakouts! You need this in your life, trust me! I couldn’t be without it now. Since about May time, my chin has been a nightmare. Spot after spot and for someone who has never really suffered from acne, it’s really bewildered me as to why, at 25, I’m suddenly suffering badly. I still don’t know the reason but this Salicylic Acid has been a lifesaver. Reducing spots quickly and helping with the scarring left behind too. You can apply a small amount of this all over if you wish to help maintain visible clarity, however, I tend to apply this to spots only as I have dry skin.

Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% |
Another product that seems to be helping reduce my acne scarring is this Vitamin C Suspension. I’ll be honest, at first, I had no idea what this actually was and where in my skincare routine to apply it. I eventually found out that it’s a serum and I’ve been loving using it. I apply it in the evenings only as it has a gritty texture and I find it also has a tendency to peel (Although, I’m not too sure if this is supposed to happen..). It does feel really weird at first and it may itch a little but that’s totally normal. Free from water and silicones, this serum contains a concentrated blend of Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid to plump, brighten and smoothen.

Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG |
This was one of the first products I came across and as someone who unfortunately has been blessed with the most prominent puffy eyes, I’ll try anything that promises to reduce them and this was a really hyped up product. Do I like it? Yes. Do I think it’s done much? I haven’t really noticed a huge difference but I’d say my dark circles aren’t as noticeable as they used to be. So that’s something!

AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution |
I’ve been absolutely loving using this ’10 minute exfoliating facial’. And I think it’s another product that has helped reduce my scarring. I use this 1-2 times a week and I have noticed a massive difference in the texture and appearance of my skin. However, be aware that if you have sensitive skin, this product is not for you! Even for me, it has a tendency to sting and I can imagine on sensitive skin it’d be rather unbearable. And never use this while you have a new breakout, I learnt the hard way. Ouch.

Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 |
I haven’t used this acid much so I can’t say a lot about it as I have another serum on the go but once it’s done, I’ll be giving this more usage. Hyaluronic acid is great at smoothing skin, hydrating and giving it a more plumped appearance.

100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil |
I had been wanting to try a Rose Hip oil for some time but I couldn’t really afford to splurge on the likes of Trilogy and Pai. So, I had to give this one a try and I’ve been loving it! I wouldn’t say it’s done much for my skin but I just love how it feels. Enriched with vitamins, fatty acids and antioxidants, rose hip oils are renowned for their anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties that calm redness, hydrate dry skin, treat scars/burns and brighten dull skin.

Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA |
A little goes a long way with this moisturiser! It’s really lovely and light but packs a punch in terms of hydration. My dry skin literally laps this stuff up! I’m definitely buying the bigger tube next time, 30ml won’t last long at all!

High-Spreadability Fluid Primer |
I was in desperate need of a new primer so thought I’d give this one a whirl. I steered clear of the High Adherence Silicone Primer due to my dry skin as anything with silicone that promises a matte finish is usually a big no-no. This still has that slight silicone-y feel to it but it’s much more hydrating, I find. Again a little goes a long way and I’ve found that my foundations are lasting a lot longer, it’s a great base product. It also gives skin a dewy appearance when worn alone! 100% recommend.

Coverage Foundation |
This may not be a skincare product but it had to be included because it’s amazing! It’s not full coverage like The Ordinary suggest but it is still great at covering up any skin imperfections which is exactly what I need right now especially around the chin area. I haven’t stopped using this since I got it! It’s perfect for my dry skin as it never gives that cakey appearance or settles into fine lines and it applies really smoothly. There are 21 shades available and I find that 1.0N is the perfect match for my pale as a ghost skin. For £5.90, this foundation has everything you’d expect from a higher end foundation that you’re likely to splurge £30+ on. The bottles may be small but it’s so worth it!

Have you tried The Ordinary? If so, what’s your favourite product? If not, what have you got your eye on?

I know the start of Autumn was the 22nd September but for me, I feel like it really starts on the 1st October. I don’t know whether it’s still having the odd warm day in September and what not but October seems so much more autumnal and cosy and I’m more willing to accept the fact that Summer is long gone! So, that means it’s time to update my wardrobe for Autumn and today, I’ve got a wishlist from the online retailer, WearAll. Make sure you go and have a nosey at their website, they’ve got some lovely bits at really reasonable prices and better yet, you can get free delivery and returns on all orders! What are you lusting over? Let me know in the comments.

Autumn means it’s time to look for a new coat and I love parkas over any other style. I’m not sure why, I just do. I love the style of the Wendy Faux Fur Leather Hooded Parka, it features inside fleeced lining which is bound to keep you cosy and warm!

I literally live in jumpers come Autumn and Winter, you’ll rarely see me in anything else. And why not? They keep you feeling snug after all! I really love the colours on the Alexis Striped Cable Knitted Cut Out Sleeve Jumper. I’m not too keen on the cutouts but other than that, it looks like a really cosy jumper.

If I do opt for a t-shirt during the colder months then a cardigan is a must have. I own a ton but I’ve got my eye on the Alysha Long Sleeve Open Aztec Knitted Cardigan. I love that it hasn’t got buttons and I adore the waterfall style.

Gingham is still really big this season and this Holly Floral Embroidered Gingham Bell Sleeve Top is adorable. I’m still in love with floral embroidery too so that’s a bonus. This top would look great paired with the Taylor Floral Embroidered Distressed Skinny Jeans.

Other bits I’m loving: Reiko Velour Turtle Neck Bodysuit, Kaelyn Fluffy Knitted Necklace Mini Jumper Dress, Audrey Badge Detail Diamante Distressed T-Shirt, Mylee Cable Knitted Long Waterfall Cardigan, Sarah Distressed Cropped Loungewear Set, Leah Liberte Slogan Short Sleeve T-Shirt and the Versie Contrast Striped Distressed Denim Jeans.

*This wishlist was created in collaboration with WearAll. However, all words are my own.

Ah, the number of times I’ve sat down to write this post and then forgotten about it and had to re-take photos for it as I’ve added to the list of recent purchases (although I forgot to include two this time around, doh!). Well, today, I’m knuckling down, I’m finally sat at my desk and determined to get this post written for good. I always think I spend far too much money on beauty but considering all products featured in this post have been bought over a 2 to 3 month period, I’m not doing so bad lately. So, what have I bought?

Recent Beauty Purchases.
Maybelline Dream Cushion Foundation |
I’ve already gone into more detail about this foundation in this post. So, I’ll keep it short and sweet here. I’m really liking this foundation at the moment! My only gripe is the shade is perhaps a little too dark but it’s still wearable, thankfully. If you’re looking for a cushion foundation on a budget that provides a medium-ish coverage, give this a try.

L’Oreal Infallible Nudist Matte Lip Paints in 208 Off White and 211 Babe In |
My go-to lip products at the moment are these nude matte lip paints from L’Oreal. Not only do they smell soooo good but they are lovely to wear and although they are matte, they’re really really comfortable! 208 Off White is my favourite shade, it’s quite a pale pinky nude and I was certain it’d be too light for me but it’s actually perfect. 211 Babe In is really nice too, it’s a slightly warmer nude. I want to try more of the Nudist shades and the red matte lip paints too.

L’Oreal Miss Baby Roll Mascara |
I was having a snoop around Boots a while back and came across two new L’Oreal mascaras. The Baby Roll and the Paradise.. I was umming and ahhing for a while over which one to get even though I didn’t really need a new mascara at the time. Everyone seems to be raving about the Paradise mascara right now and I’m not seeing much about the Baby Roll. But. I recommend everyone tries this! I love it! The Mega Curl Roller Brush instantly lifts my lashes and makes them look more volumised and curled, it’s also long lasting which for me is always good as my lashes usually fall flat very quickly! There’s only one mascara I would opt for over it right now and it’s the…

Maybelline Volum’ Express The Lift Mascara |
Don’t get me wrong, I love the Miss Baby Roll but this just ever so slightly beats it. I always forget how good Maybelline mascaras are and I honestly think they are pretty much the best on the high street. This does exactly as the name would suggest – lifting and volumising my lashes and really making my eyes pop!

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Strobe Highlighter in Moon Glow Lights |
It’s been well over a year since I’ve bought anything from Makeup Revolution but when I came across this highlighter in Superdrug a few weeks ago, I had to pick it up. It looks so beautiful in the pan but unfortunately, on my skin, it really doesn’t do anything. I like my highlighters to give my cheekbones a nice sheen but this just looks quite dull and doesn’t really ‘highlight’ as such. I might try applying this wet and see if it makes a difference. Fingers crossed as I had high hopes for this!

Tanya Burr My Paradise Eyeshadow Palette |
I already own two palettes from Tanya Burr’s range of cosmetics (Read my full review on them here.) and when I saw the My Paradise palette on Instagram a while ago, I fell in love. And I’m not gonna lie, it was mainly due to the cute, pineapple imprints. I haven’t used this yet but I should imagine the shades are just lovely and pigmented as the other two. Inspired by rose gold sunsets, there are 4 shades in this palette – Champagne Cocktail, Tranquility, Miami Sunrise and Hammock.

Tanya Burr Chasing The Sun Peonies Please Illuminating Powder |
This illuminating powder is a must have for anyone who loves a serious rosy glow. I can’t get over how pigmented this powder is, I’ll admit when I first applied it, I ended up looking a little OTT but I soon learnt, a light hand is a must with this! Due to my pale skin, I use this a blush which in turn also creates a gorgeous highlight on the cheekbones too. Just look at it! 😍

Botanics All Bright Radiance Concentrate Serum |
I actually forgot to include this and the next product in these photos but I thought I’d mention them anyway. I’ve always loved the serums from Botanics, not only are they cheap but they work well too! Botanics have recently changed their packaging, which I adore. It looked quite cheap and plain before but now they are definitely a lot more flatlay and Insta friendly! It’s all about the aesthetics right?! I’ve been using this serum every day since I got it and my skin does look brighter. It contains AHAs from hibiscus plants and a blend of active botanicals to improve texture and tone. And it’s certainly done that!

Zoella Gelato Body Pudding |
When the new Zoella beauty range was released, I had to try something and the Gelato body pudding sounded gorgeous. Not only do I love the packaging but the cream itself looks so nice, it contains little pink beads that look like sprinkles. Like, it looks so good, I could actually eat it if it wasn’t a product for the body! Hehe. Anyway, this is an absolute dream to apply, literally heaven! It sinks into the skin within a matter of minutes leaving it feeling really soft and smooth. Enriched with Elderflower and Pomegranate, it’s no surprise that it smells delicious too!

Have you tried any of these?

NYX Professional Makeup Launches at Debenhams.

I remember being so excited whilst stood at the NYX Professional Makeup stand at The Clothes Show live almost two years ago. Having a browse at all the different products on offer and hailing the start of my Soft Matte Lip Cream addiction (oops). Back then, NYX were quite hard to get hold of in the UK and now, they’re so easily accessible. In fact, they just launched at Debenhams earlier this week and I was kindly sent some of their best selling products to try including a new and exclusive palette!

Soft Matte Lip Cream in Budapest* |
I thought I’d begin with one of my favourite products from the brand. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you probably know how much I adore these! I was super excited to receive a shade I probably would have never of bought myself. Budapest is the perfect shade for the upcoming winter months, it’s best described as a deep mauve with red undertones.

The Soft Mattes are a gorgeous matte lip product that never feel dry and uncomfortable and last a long time on the lips! I’m obsessed with them and you should be too.

Lip Lingerie in Exotic* |
I’ve been meaning to try the Lip Lingeries for some time and again, Exotic looks like another gorgeous shade for Autumn/Winter. I tend to steer clear of darker lip shades like this due to fear of looking washed out but this Autumn, I’ve decided to be brave and try out some darker reds and berries and Exotic looks like the perfect shade to get me out of my comfort zone – a stunning warm, mahogany red!

The Lip Lingeries are similar to the Soft Mattes in that they are both a creamy liquid lipstick with a gorgeous matte finish. I can’t wait to see how they compare!

Liquid Suede in Downtown Beauty* |
I have never owned such a dark shade of lipstick before and I’m not 100% sure it’d suit me. I think I’m far too pale for it, I think this would suit darker skin tones much better. Downtown Beauty is best described as a walnut brown.

Butter Gloss in Strawberry Parfait* |
I can’t say I’m a big lover of lip gloss. I hate that tacky, sticky feeling most have but the Butter Glosses are completely different. I already own one Butter Gloss, Sugar Cookie. That and Strawberry Parfait are very similar shades, both being fuchsias. The Butter Glosses are really lovely lip glosses for when you’re looking to apply something effortless on the lips.

Pore Filler* and Shine Killer* |
These are two products I probably won’t get any use out of as I don’t have oily skin or large pores. If you do though, these are two products that seem well worth a try! Shine Killer is essentially a primer that eliminates oil and shine so your face stays looking matte. Pore Filler is a Vitamin E infused formula that minimises pores and preps the skin for smooth makeup application.

Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette* |
Would you look at this beauty!? Being the highlighter addict that I am (look out for my Highlighter Edit post coming soon 🙊) when I first set eyes on this palette, I knew that it would quickly become a favourite. If you watched my Insta stories the other day, you would have seen swatches from this beautiful palette. It contains 7 stunning, ridiculously pigmented velvety smooth powder highlighters.

Ultimate Shadow Palette in Cool Neutrals* |
I’ve been looking for a new eyeshadow palette for some time (not that I need one, to be honest!) and when this arrived, I was over the moon! It contains sixteen mattes and shimmers, I particularly love the top two rows as they are my kind of shades but honestly, all the shades in this palette are beautiful. I can’t wait to have a play around with this and I’ve now got my eye on the Warm Neutrals palette too!

Contour Intuitive Eye and Face Sculpting Palette in Jewel Queen* |
Last but not least, we’ve got the Debenhams exclusive palette which contains six eyeshadows, two highlighters and a blush. I’m already obsessed with the white highlight in this palette, it makes the cheekbones look seriously glowy. I’ve not yet tried the blush but I think it might be a little too dark for my skin and probably best suited as a bronzer. As for the six eyeshadows, I can’t get over the blue and purple shades, they aren’t something I’d usually go for but I can’t get over how beautiful, unique and pigmented they are.

SoulTree Ayurvedic Kajals.

I love being approached by brands I’m yet to discover. As nice as it might be to work with the bigger beauty brands out there (It’s every blogger’s dream, right?), it’s also great to get the chance to try some products that you may of other wise never tried. So, when I was asked if I wanted to try out the gorgeous kajals from Soultree, a natural, organic brand hailing from India, I obviously said yes.

The Soultree Ayurvedic Kajals* are handmade using a 3000 year old Ayurvedic recipe process. They combine carbon black collected from vegetable oil lamps with organic ghee, natural mineral colours and almond oil to create vibrant colours.

You can use these kajals as both an eyeliner and eyeshadow, so I decided to go for Cold Black for liner and Rich Loam to use as an eyeshadow. Cold Black is described as a ‘creamy charcoal black with a more intense cooling effect’ and Rich Loam ‘a musky brown with a glowing shimmer great for making your eyes luminous.

In my opinion, these kajals definitely work better as liners than they do eyeshadows. Rich Loam, when blended, doesn’t look as appealing as it does in the swatch below, but when used as a base underneath other bronze-like shadows such as On and On Bronze from Maybelline, it’s really gorgeous. I will definitely see what this is like as a liner!

When it comes to applying eyeliner on the top lids, I’m absolutely useless. When I saw the shape of these, I was definitely intrigued to see if I could finally nail it. And I have to say, I did a pretty good job. This shape makes it so easy! I also think it helps that I’m not terrified of poking myself in the eye with a liquid liner😂. Cold Black lasted all day and did not budge once, very impressive!

I definitely want to try more of these! They have such fun, vibrant colours on offer but Copper Tint is the one I want the most. I’m also intrigued by the Transparent kajal which leaves a glossy finish and helps cool and soothe the eyes.

Would you try these kajals? Which colours would you go for?
