If you were to go through my phone, you’d be welcomed with hundreds of photos and far too many apps. Half of them I don’t even use anymore and should probably delete as I literally have no space on my 16GB iPhone (Note to self: Get a 64GB or 128GB iPhone when you upgrade) for them. Today I’m sharing 10 apps I love that I consider must have. Apart from the obvious ones like Twitter & Instagram of course..
If you’re a blogger and want to promote your posts on Instagram, this is where Dropbox comes in so handy. If you don’t take blog photos with your phone or don’t have a WiFi enabled camera to upload directly to Instagram, transferring photos from your computer to your phone can be a little tricky and time consuming but not with Dropbox! Download it here to your computer and download the app to your phone, sign up and login on both devices and it will be synced.. So you can send photos from your computer to your phone and vice versa. It’s also a great way to keep your photos backed up incase anything should happen to your devices.
2. Valued Opinions
I only found out about this app a few weeks ago and I’m so glad I did. If you need a bit of extra dosh, it’s perfect. It’s basically a survey site where you can get rewarded for taking part. I’ve only done 2 surveys so far and I’ve already earned £1.25. Not a lot, but it will soon add up. Rewards include vouchers and charity donations, I’m not too sure on if you can actually withdraw your money earned though.
If you have trouble budgeting or you need to save money, OnTrees is a great app to track all your outgoings and see how much your spending on things like bills, groceries, clothes etc. You just sync all your accounts like your current account, savings account etc. to the app and it will tell you your current balance and your outgoings. Obviously you need to have Internet banking to be able to use this app!
I love a bargain and if I can get any money off a particular purchase, I will. Whether it be clothes or makeup to a meal out, you’ll find a voucher code for pretty much anything on this app. There are some great deals on there right now, so check it out! It’s a shame my bank account is on the brink of empty. 🙁
Another good one for bargain lovers. Groupon has some great deals. It can be a trip abroad, an online course or a pack of 45 toilet tissues.. Yes, I’m being serious! If you want a bargain on some loo roll, Groupon is your app! Hehe. But in all seriousness, it’s a great app and I’ve had some fab deals off there in the past including a haircut at a local salon.
Very similar to Groupon, there isn’t much else to say about it as it really is pretty much the same but there are no bargain loo rolls on there at the moment that I can see.. but there are some allergy tablets, so y’know. But it is another great app to look at for bargain deals, so it’s handy to have both!
I downloaded this to plan my upcoming trip to Amsterdam so if you’re going abroad soon and need to plan, this app is great. You just put in where your heading to and it will give you lists of things like hotels, places to see, tours etc. It even has a metro map for Amsterdam which will come in very handy.
You’ve all probably heard of Buzzfeed. If not, it’s basically a news site with a twist. Instead of your regular news stories you see in the papers, it’s more ‘social’ news, I guess. It’s quite a fun read and if you’re in need of a pick me up, it’s great. There have been many times where I’ve ended up crying with laughter whilst reading an article. However, it does touch on important news happening around the world too. I mostly read it when I’m on the laptop but if I’m out and about and fancy a read its handy to have the app.
If you’ve been reading my blog for some time, you’ll know I’m an avid comper. WAMO is a great app where you can win prizes. They have a new competition everyday for example, right now they are giving away a £50 Topshop Gift Card. All you have to do is go to the site suggested in the terms and pick something you like or something of a particular colour etc. It’s all in the rules what you have to do. It’s completely genuine, I have won £50 to spend at Miss Selfridge before in which I treated myself to a stunning tote bag.
10. DCC (Daily Celebrity Crossword)
I’m a geek and I like crosswords. A lot. This is one of two crossword apps on my phone and my favourite. I only downloaded it about two weeks ago and I’m a little obsessed. It’s not strictly celebrity focused but a lot of it is to do with the entertainment world and is very much US based so can get a little tricky at times if you have literally no knowledge in for example, the NFL. But it’s a lot of fun and I definitely recommend it.
As I mentioned on my 2015 favourites post, I wasn’t very well over Christmas so I didn’t have the best day however I got some really lovely presents and thought I would share what I got with you all. I’ve really enjoyed reading these kind of posts over the past few days as I’m incredibly nosy! So, this is not me bragging about what I got at all, I just wanted to do a post myself!
Starting with my biggest presents and 2 amazing gift sets from Soap & Glory! They really outdid themselves this year with the all their Christmas gift sets, they were all really good! I was so happy to get not just one but TWO of them. I received Soaper Star which comes in a huge box and is going to come in so handy for storage purposes! In the box, there is a full sized Clean On Me Shower Gel, The Scrub Of Your Life Body Buffer, The Righteous Butter Body Butter, Heel Genius, Hand Food, A pink body polisher and a cute pair of pink fluffy socks!! The other gift set is Once Upon A Lime which contains some of my favourite Soap & Glory body products in my favourite scent, Sugar Crush! Inside is the Sugar Crush Body Scrub, Body Wash, Body Buttercream, Hand Food and another body polisher.
Real Techniques brushes are my absolute favourite so I was pretty excited to receive the Deluxe Holiday Gift set which includes the Multi task brush, Tapered foundation brush, Angled highlighter brush, Base shadow brush and Fine liner brush along with a silver clutch. Other beauty/skincare gift sets I’ve received were the Seventeen Mini Lip Gloss Collection, French Connection Full on Beauty Set & REN Skincare Regime Set. I also received a bottle of Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover which I can’t wait to try!
My best friend got me a beautiful Pandora purple leather bracelet which I absolutely love along with a cute little Best Friend charm, so sweet! I also received two other charms: A paw charm which says ‘I love my pet’ on the opposite side and a Christmas teddy bear charm, both are completely adorable! If you know me, you’ll know I’m obsessed with The Walking Dead, it’s my absolute favourite show so now I have Season Five to add to my DVD collection! I’m always in need of more storage so this ‘Really Useful Box’ is going to be really useful, hehe! The little boxes are the perfect size to store jewellery, hair ties etc in.
A girl can never have too many handbags in my opinion and I got two this Christmas! A small real leather crossbody bag which is perfect for when I don’t want to carry a lot around with me and a larger blue tote bag which is absolutely stunning! I also got two make up bags: One star print and one eyelash print.
This Christmas was the second year I got a stocking from my mum (I’m a big kid, I know!) and it was filled to the brim with goodies. Inside was a Jasmine Noir Reed Diffuser which smells amazing! A 20-piece make up brush set which mainly consists of eye brushes, A stunning floral print notebook for all my blog post planning, quirky Christmas gloves which I’m sad I can’t wear now until the lead up to next Christmas, how fab are they though?! I love them!! I also got two pairs of Christmas socks, a Moustache nail file, A little duck lip balm, Essence Stampy Set, Essence Jelly Nail Polish, Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner and a pair of Collection Luscious Lashes.
What did you get for Christmas? If you’ve written a blog post, please share the link as I’d love to have a read!
I feel not many people know about this tiny little city in the Cambridgeshire fens that offers so much history, charm and beautiful surroundings, it’s the perfect place to spend a day out in the Autumn or any time of the year for that matter. I’ve only lived here for 6 years but it is very much ‘home’ to me, I love it here. Situated only 20 minutes from the university city of Cambridge and only an hour and a half train journey away from London, it’s well connected but Ely itself has a lot you can cram into 24 hours to enjoy a wonderful day and evening out here.
Now this is a difficult one for me as I’ve rarely ate breakfast out here. However, there is a cafe called Street Cafe on the high street that I really love but it may not be to everyones taste as it is technically a ‘builders cafe’. I really love their fry ups but if this is not for you then there are a few other places to check out such as Grand Central on the riverside if pancakes and waffles are your kind of thing! If you just want to grab a coffee there are many coffee shops both well known and independent. Costa Coffee is one of them.
AFTER BREAKFAST |
Walk off your breakfast with a nice stroll through Jubilee Gardens down to the stunning riverside. This is where the Cambridge University Boat Club sometimes train! You can even take a boat trip along the River Great Ouse which is something I need to do myself. A short walk along the river will bring you the Babylon Gallery if you like art galleries and it’s free too! There is also a lovely antiques centre, Waterside Antiques nearby.
If you do visit the Babylon Gallery, next door is the award winning Peacocks Tearooms. I’m yet to visit however it was voted the best tearooms in the country in 2007 so it must be good! Why not grab lunch here? They offer light lunches and snacks and even set afternoon teas! Another tea room recommendation near our breathtaking cathedral is The Almonry which I’ve to been many times and it’s lovely with incredible views of the cathedral.
AFTER LUNCH |
Ely is home to an absolutely breathtaking cathedral often referred to as the ‘Ship of The Fens’ and is the only UK building to be listed on the Seven Wonders of The Middle Ages. Not only is it incredible to look at from the outside but inside is spectacular too. Inside, there is a Stained Glass Museum and the chance to have a guided tour and/or go up to the West or Octagon towers for incredible views of Ely and the Cambridgeshire countryside. It has also been featured in many films such as ‘The Kings Speech’ and ‘Jupiter Ascending’ and soon enough you will see it in an upcoming Netflix drama ‘The Crown.’ I’ve been in the cathedral many times now and it still takes my breath away every time. It’s beautiful.
After visiting the Cathedral, take a short walk to Oliver Cromwell’s House where he lived for 10 years. Oliver Cromwell was the Lord Protector of England and this house has been recreated to show how his family would have lived in the mid 17th century.
Ely has many great restaurants to choose from. There are your usual chains like Pizza Express, Prezzo and Wildwood. However my favourite would probably be Grand Central. If you like American restaurants then this is for you! If not, I’d recommend either The Lamb, The Hereward or the newly refurbished High Flyer for some good pub food and a few drinks to go with it too! If A la Carte dining is more your thing, make sure you visit Poets House.
AFTER DINNER/NIGHTLIFE |
If cocktails are your kind of drink, visit Ta Bouche on the riverside. In my opinion, these are the best cocktails in Ely! If bars and pubs aren’t your kind of thing why not check out the ADEC Cinema at The Maltings? Some evenings, there are showings of popular films from recent months.
