SoulTree Ayurvedic Kajals.

I love being approached by brands I’m yet to discover. As nice as it might be to work with the bigger beauty brands out there (It’s every blogger’s dream, right?), it’s also great to get the chance to try some products that you may of other wise never tried. So, when I was asked if I wanted to try out the gorgeous kajals from Soultree, a natural, organic brand hailing from India, I obviously said yes.

The Soultree Ayurvedic Kajals* are handmade using a 3000 year old Ayurvedic recipe process. They combine carbon black collected from vegetable oil lamps with organic ghee, natural mineral colours and almond oil to create vibrant colours.

You can use these kajals as both an eyeliner and eyeshadow, so I decided to go for Cold Black for liner and Rich Loam to use as an eyeshadow. Cold Black is described as a ‘creamy charcoal black with a more intense cooling effect’ and Rich Loam ‘a musky brown with a glowing shimmer great for making your eyes luminous.

In my opinion, these kajals definitely work better as liners than they do eyeshadows. Rich Loam, when blended, doesn’t look as appealing as it does in the swatch below, but when used as a base underneath other bronze-like shadows such as On and On Bronze from Maybelline, it’s really gorgeous. I will definitely see what this is like as a liner!

When it comes to applying eyeliner on the top lids, I’m absolutely useless. When I saw the shape of these, I was definitely intrigued to see if I could finally nail it. And I have to say, I did a pretty good job. This shape makes it so easy! I also think it helps that I’m not terrified of poking myself in the eye with a liquid liner😂. Cold Black lasted all day and did not budge once, very impressive!

I definitely want to try more of these! They have such fun, vibrant colours on offer but Copper Tint is the one I want the most. I’m also intrigued by the Transparent kajal which leaves a glossy finish and helps cool and soothe the eyes.

Would you try these kajals? Which colours would you go for?

Drugstore Cushion Foundations | L'Oreal Vs. Maybelline.

I would be very surprised if you hadn’t heard of cushion foundations by now. They are a compact housing sponges drenched in liquid foundation originally hailing from Korea and they hit UK stores around 2016 with Lancome being the first to launch their Miracle Cushion Foundation. I was intrigued by it but put off by its high price tag. So, when L’Oreal released their Nude Magique Cushion Foundation, I could finally give this compact a try. It soon became a staple in my makeup bag, I reach for it whenever I’m having a good skin day and want to achieve a healthy looking dewy glow. Recently, Maybelline released their Dream Cushion Foundation and I decided to see how it compared..

L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation
A gorgeous foundation that you must try if you love achieving a dewy glow. It’s an incredibly lightweight, sheer formula and it’s perfect for those of us with dry skin. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for a lot of coverage, it just doesn’t exist in this foundation, as I said before it’s incredibly sheer. Therefore, I’m more likely to reach for it on good skin days and those rare warm days during the summer when I don’t want anything too heavy. I love how natural my skin looks when I’m wearing this!

Drugstore Cushion Foundations | L'Oreal Vs. Maybelline.

Maybelline Dream Cushion Foundation
When I first heard the name of this, I had flashbacks to the days of the Dream Matte Mousse. Oh dear, I think we all had disasters with that foundation. Anyway, you’ll be glad to know that the Dream Cushion is a really lovely foundation with a nice amount of coverage. It feels comfortable on the skin and looks nice too. Often with my dry skin, foundations with significant coverage can look cakey, thankfully it’s not the case with this one. I also find that it’s a lot easier to pick up more product with the Dream Cushion, I found my L’Oreal Nude Magique seemed to dry out very quickly. My only gripe with the Dream Cushion is that the lightest shade (01 Natural Ivory) is a lot darker than the lightest shade in L’Oreal’s version (01 Porcelain) so we definitely need a lighter shade for us pale people please, Maybelline!

What makes cushion foundations so good is that they are a great option for top ups on the go or for packing in your suitcase for your travels. Now that a load of brands both high end and in the drugstore have jumped on board, there is sure to be a cushion foundation out there for everyone.

Have you tried a cushion foundation? Which is your favourite?

Summer Beauty Wishlist.

Summer is in full swing (even though the weather seems more autumnal right now!) and my beauty wish list is a big as ever. With new releases seemingly coming out every week, it’s inevitable that my wish list keeps growing and growing. But unfortunately, money doesn’t go on trees so a majority of products probably stay on my wishlists for a long time (I’m looking at you Estee Lauder Double Wear.) Keep reading to see all the beauty bits I’m lusting after right now.

The number one product on my wish list right now has to be the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette. At first, I didn’t think I’d be too bothered about it but now that it’s all over my Insta feed pretty much every single day, I need to get it. It’s the perfect palette for the upcoming Autumn months and I’ve been meaning to buy a new Naked palette for some time (I only own the Naked 3) and I feel this would be a good addition to my eyeshadow collection as I don’t think I own any similar-ish shades.

Another palette I’m dying to get my hands on is the Too Faced Natural Love Palette. Have you seen this beauty? Oh my, it’s stunning. Not only is the packaging so pretty and adorable, it contains 30 gorgeous shades that are right up my street. The only thing that is putting me off is the £52 price tag. Hmm, is it too soon to write up my Christmas list?

If you’re a blogger or an avid blog reader, you’ll know all about Colourpop. This brand has taken the blogging world by storm over the past few months and I’m dying to try them! And my wish list is pretty damn big. I mainly want to try their lip products, though. I love the look of the Ultra Matte Lip and the Lippie Stix.

Lastly, I’ve got my eye on the new range from Tanya Burr Cosmetics. I’ve already tried a few products from her and I adore them, they are great products at reasonable prices! The Chasing The Sun collection is absolutely stunning, I’m loving the look Illuminating Powders, how pretty are they!? I’m also wanting the My Paradise palette, how cute are the Pineapple imprints?

What beauty products are you currently lusting after?

The June Makeup Bag.

As I mentioned in May’s makeup bag post, I’m now ditching the monthly favourite posts and sharing my monthly makeup bag contents with you all instead! We may already be two weeks into July, but better late than never right!?

Bourjois City Radiance Foundation |
I’m still wearing my other Bourjois foundation favourite but when I want something with a little less coverage that still gives my skin a flawless appearance, I’ll opt for City Radiance. It’s a great summer base in that it’s light, contains SPF 30 to protect my pale skin on sunny days and has an anti-pollution screen which as a Londoner is something I really need!

NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam |
I’ve raved about this a lot now and I’ll carry on for as long as this product is around. When wearing the Bourjois Healthy Mix, I always mix this in to give my skin more of a luminous glow. It really is beautiful!

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer |
Told you you’d see this again! Yep, this is still my go-to concealer and it will be for a loooong time. Even though I’m worried about me overusing it and running out quickly as it’s not cheap! So I might start saving it and go back to my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer for a little while…

Bourjois Java Rice Powder |
With my dry skin, I usually steer clear of powder. Cakey makeup? No thanks. But I had started seeing this powder on a ton of blogs recently and the reviews got me intrigued, so I had to try it. This is the most gorgeous pink-hued powder, oh my. It adds such a lovely glow to the skin without any cakey-ness or settling into fine lines. It’s really beautiful and I’d really recommend it if you love that glowy look!

Sleek Rose Gold Blush |
I seem to buy anything that is rose gold or has rose gold in its name! I’m obsessed and I can safely say I’m addicted to this beautiful blush! I own nothing like it and it just adds a really lovely pop of colour to my cheeks! It’s the perfect blush for warmer days and I love how compact the packaging is!

Maybelline Master Strobing Stick |
Say hello to my new favourite highlighter! This one is so easy to apply, just one swipe, blend and voila, you’ve got a gorgeous glow to the cheekbones. I can’t get enough of this, it’s really beautiful. A definite must try.

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Waterproof Mascara |
I’ve been meaning to try this for years and I finally decided to pick it up a few weeks ago. It’s the only waterproof mascara I own but I can’t comment on the water proof-ness yet however it’s a really lovely subtle mascara. It lifts the lashes and gives them a lovely fluttery look, I wouldn’t say it gives much in the way of volume or definition but if you just want a nice mascara for daytime wear that doesn’t look too extreme, try this one.

Seventeen Lip Lustres |
I’ve had these for ages and never really thought much of them but I decided to give them a go recently and they’re really lovely when worn on top of lipstick! They don’t add much in the way of colour but if you like that glossy lip look then these are great. No stickiness and long lasting too!

Which makeup items have you been loving recently?

Lipstick Collection | Part Two

Back in April, I shared Part One of my lipstick collection. As my collection is rather large, it had to be split into two.. so today, I bring you Part Two of which consists mainly of liquid lipsticks and showcases my NYX Soft Matte obsession.. one range I just can’t stop adding to! Enjoy.. it could be a long one!

Lipstick Collection | Part Two

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Colour |
Going by the name, you’d expect these to be a matte formula. Unfortunately, they are far from it but as I like the shade, Devotion, I still wear it every now and then. Plus I really like the packaging! If only they were matte..

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in Nude Flush |
As you can tell, I really like my matte lipsticks. I’m gonna be honest, I’ve only worn this once! I don’t know why as it’s a lovely shade and formula. I definitely need to start wearing it more.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks in Perla, Patina and Serenata |
I love these liquid lipsticks! I certainly recommend these to anyone who’s looking for a new range to try, these are amazing. Whilst I bought this mini set of 3 because I saw Patina on someone and fell in love with how it looked, it’s actually Perla that is my favourite, a gorgeous dusty nude-pink. NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams in Antwerp, Ibiza, Milan, Istanbul, Stockholm, Addis Ababa and Manila.
Yes, I’m obsessed with these. I have said it many a time but they are the most comfortable formula and have a sweet scent that I can’t get enough of, they are a dream to apply as they glide on so effortlessly and as the name would suggest they are super creamy too. My favourite shade at the moment is Stockholm, it’s a great nude-mauve shade that has a touch of peach to it and it’s perfect for summer.

Have you tried any of these lipsticks? What are your thoughts?
