The June Makeup Bag.

As I mentioned in May’s makeup bag post, I’m now ditching the monthly favourite posts and sharing my monthly makeup bag contents with you all instead! We may already be two weeks into July, but better late than never right!?

Bourjois City Radiance Foundation |
I’m still wearing my other Bourjois foundation favourite but when I want something with a little less coverage that still gives my skin a flawless appearance, I’ll opt for City Radiance. It’s a great summer base in that it’s light, contains SPF 30 to protect my pale skin on sunny days and has an anti-pollution screen which as a Londoner is something I really need!

NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam |
I’ve raved about this a lot now and I’ll carry on for as long as this product is around. When wearing the Bourjois Healthy Mix, I always mix this in to give my skin more of a luminous glow. It really is beautiful!

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer |
Told you you’d see this again! Yep, this is still my go-to concealer and it will be for a loooong time. Even though I’m worried about me overusing it and running out quickly as it’s not cheap! So I might start saving it and go back to my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer for a little while…

Bourjois Java Rice Powder |
With my dry skin, I usually steer clear of powder. Cakey makeup? No thanks. But I had started seeing this powder on a ton of blogs recently and the reviews got me intrigued, so I had to try it. This is the most gorgeous pink-hued powder, oh my. It adds such a lovely glow to the skin without any cakey-ness or settling into fine lines. It’s really beautiful and I’d really recommend it if you love that glowy look!

Sleek Rose Gold Blush |
I seem to buy anything that is rose gold or has rose gold in its name! I’m obsessed and I can safely say I’m addicted to this beautiful blush! I own nothing like it and it just adds a really lovely pop of colour to my cheeks! It’s the perfect blush for warmer days and I love how compact the packaging is!

Maybelline Master Strobing Stick |
Say hello to my new favourite highlighter! This one is so easy to apply, just one swipe, blend and voila, you’ve got a gorgeous glow to the cheekbones. I can’t get enough of this, it’s really beautiful. A definite must try.

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Waterproof Mascara |
I’ve been meaning to try this for years and I finally decided to pick it up a few weeks ago. It’s the only waterproof mascara I own but I can’t comment on the water proof-ness yet however it’s a really lovely subtle mascara. It lifts the lashes and gives them a lovely fluttery look, I wouldn’t say it gives much in the way of volume or definition but if you just want a nice mascara for daytime wear that doesn’t look too extreme, try this one.

Seventeen Lip Lustres |
I’ve had these for ages and never really thought much of them but I decided to give them a go recently and they’re really lovely when worn on top of lipstick! They don’t add much in the way of colour but if you like that glossy lip look then these are great. No stickiness and long lasting too!

Which makeup items have you been loving recently?

Lipstick Collection | Part Two

Back in April, I shared Part One of my lipstick collection. As my collection is rather large, it had to be split into two.. so today, I bring you Part Two of which consists mainly of liquid lipsticks and showcases my NYX Soft Matte obsession.. one range I just can’t stop adding to! Enjoy.. it could be a long one!

Lipstick Collection | Part Two

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Colour |
Going by the name, you’d expect these to be a matte formula. Unfortunately, they are far from it but as I like the shade, Devotion, I still wear it every now and then. Plus I really like the packaging! If only they were matte..

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in Nude Flush |
As you can tell, I really like my matte lipsticks. I’m gonna be honest, I’ve only worn this once! I don’t know why as it’s a lovely shade and formula. I definitely need to start wearing it more.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks in Perla, Patina and Serenata |
I love these liquid lipsticks! I certainly recommend these to anyone who’s looking for a new range to try, these are amazing. Whilst I bought this mini set of 3 because I saw Patina on someone and fell in love with how it looked, it’s actually Perla that is my favourite, a gorgeous dusty nude-pink. Read my full review here.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams in Antwerp, Ibiza, Milan, Istanbul, Stockholm, Addis Ababa and Manila.
Yes, I’m obsessed with these. I have said it many a time but they are the most comfortable formula and have a sweet scent that I can’t get enough of, they are a dream to apply as they glide on so effortlessly and as the name would suggest they are super creamy too. My favourite shade at the moment is Stockholm, it’s a great nude-mauve shade that has a touch of peach to it and it’s perfect for summer.

Have you tried any of these lipsticks? What are your thoughts?

The May Makeup Bag.

Instead of doing the usual monthly favourites, I thought I’d switch it up a little (as I’ve been doing with my makeup!) and start sharing my monthly makeup bag contents instead. So what’s been in my makeup bag during May? Well, a mix of old and new favourites really! Read on to find out what I’ve been wearing…

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation |
I just can’t get enough of this foundation, it really is the perfect base! As I mentioned in my full review, it’s a very light but buildable base that gives a gorgeous natural, dewy finish. I’m obsessed.

L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation |
Another foundation favourite but unfortunately as it’s so sheer, I have been unable to wear this on its own lately (thanks to chin breakouts!) so it’s been more of a touch-up foundation for whilst I’m at work, thanks to its compact sizing. Although the Bourjois Healthy Mix is usually very long lasting, recently due to hot weather, it’s been slipping off the skin quite quickly (boo!) so Nude Magique has come in very very handy!

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer |
I’ll warn you now.. expect to see this concealer featured in every one of these posts in the near future. Because I can’t get enough! The coverage is like nothing I’ve seen before, it’s incredible. I also adore the flawless finish it gives and the fact it stays put for hours!! Totally worth every penny!!

Benefit Erase Paste |
Not so much now but before I got Shape Tape, I was using this as a base before I applied the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. I found it gave Lasting Perfection more lasting power like something to ‘stick’ to and enabled a more immaculate finish.. well, as immaculate as my prominent under eye area could get, let’s be honest..

theBalm Mary Lou Manizer |
I’ve recently put my favourite Champagne Pop on the back burner and opted for more toned-down highlighters like the Mary Lou Manizer. Even though it’s pigmentation isn’t as bold as Champagne Pop, it still packs a punch and gives a gorgeous luminous sheen to the cheekbones.

Soap & Glory Solar Powder |
I used to wear this bronzer all the time and I’m not sure why I stopped! This powder is perfect for us pale girls who are a bit terrified of bronzers as it’s light and easy to work with! It’s divided into two shades both of which are ideal when mixed together to give the appearance of more radiant skin and subtle bronzing. I always apply this in a 3 shape with my Real Techniques Bold Metals 103 Angled Powder brush as it’s extra fluffy so it picks up just the right amount of product to be swept across the face.

Topshop Brow Palette |
The first product I’ve ever hit pan on! Yes, really, my first. Thankfully, I still have a lot more product in the palette to use as it would seem Topshop have now discontinued these fabulous little palettes. I’m gutted. Honestly, nothing makes my brows look as good as the wax and powder featured in here. It’s also such a quick and easy way to do my brows in the mornings, it takes me less than a minute.

Smashbox X-Rated Mascara |
This Smashbox mascara is my current go to as it gives my lashes a whole load of length, definition and volume. I need to get my hands on the full size version!

MAC Brave |
At least once a week or more, I will wear this lipstick, it’s my absolute holy grail. No matter what season it is, it’s such a wearable warm, rosy pink shade. Paired with Soar lip pencil, it’s even better! I’m addicted.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Perla |
If you’re looking for a new liquid lipstick, I recommend you give Stila’s offering a try. Along with the Kat Von D Everlasting lipsticks, these are the best formulas on the market. Comfy to wear, long lasting and an amazing range of shades. Perla is my favourite, a gorgeous pale dusty pink.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm |
Yes, I’m still obsessed with these lip creams! And Stockholm is my new favourite shade, a gorgeous nude-mauve with a hint of peach. It’s a great summer shade and I’ll be wearing it all season long!

What makeup have you been wearing in May?

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer | Worth the hype?

Tarte’s Shape Tape concealer is the must have beauty item on the scene right now and it’s selling like hotcakes, every 26 seconds to be exact. And when a product is so popular, I’m likely to pop it in my basket without any second thought. So, is it worth the hype?

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer | Worth the hype?

I’m a concealer hoarder, I have about 20 in my collection right now. It’s rather ridiculous! But, when you have the most visible under eye bags like myself, it’s a vital, makeup essential. I can’t live without my concealers! My holy grail is the Collection Lasting Perfection, one I thought could never be beaten until I got my hands on Shape Tape!

The Tarte Shape Tape Concealer comes in 15 shades (unfortunately, QVC seem to only stock 6!) which is brilliant as I rarely ever see such a wide range of shades for concealers. As there is nowhere in the UK to swatch these before purchasing, I was a bit unsure on what shade to go for and as this was my most expensive concealer purchase yet, I didn’t want to buy the wrong shade. So, I tweeted the lovely people at Tarte and they replied straight away with some advice so away I went and bought the shade, Light.

I usually go for the palest shade in concealers as I’m as white as a ghost. But Tarte’s advice made sense, they told me to go for Light if I had pink undertones which I do rather than opt for Fair. If you have fair skin without the pink undertones, Fair is probably your best option. I’m glad I tweeted Tarte as Light is perfect for me. If you ever need advice on their products do give them a tweet!

In terms of coverage, this concealer is insane. The first time I put it on I was blown away, I know that sounds silly when it comes to makeup but honestly, it really blew me away. Whilst it may be full coverage, it’s a very lightweight, creamy formula. It can crease a little after application but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed and it stays put through the day with minimal touchups which sometimes aren’t even required! It’s the perfect concealer for those of us with dry skin. I would say the finish is more satin than matte. It really makes your under eye area look flawless which is something I thought I’d never be able to achieve. On blemishes it is also amazing, I had a rather horrendous breakout on my chin recently and after using Shape Tape, they were barely noticeable.

In terms of the packaging, the wand applicator is rather big. Something I was a little unsure of at first but honestly, it doesn’t make much of a difference. I find you get just enough product to give you an immaculate finish. If you order from QVC, you will also receive the Quickie Blending Sponge which isn’t all that great, I didn’t like how it applied the concealer. Instead, I blend it with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge which is waaay better.

I was a bit wary of spending so much on a concealer but I’m happy I did and I will continue to repurchase this as I don’t think I could live without now and although Collection Lasting Perfection may be a whole lot cheaper this definitely beats it. But I will always have a Collection concealer in my makeup bag because I’m a hoarder

You can buy the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer on QVC for £28 but they have very limited shades. For more shades, you can buy straight from the Tarte website for a little less at £19 but you may encounter custom charges, so be aware of that.

Have you tried this concealer? What are your thoughts?

Mascaras I'm Loving

Once upon a time, I was obsessed with buying mascaras. Nowadays, the hype has died down a bit and it’s been a long time since I’ve bought one myself, a lot of mine are now sample sizes or competition wins. Mascara is still an important step in my makeup, however as I think it really finishes off a look, really opens up my eyes and also makes me look more awake and ready to take on the day thanks to my 6 am weekday wake up calls! (yawn!) My favourite mascaras give my lashes length, definition and a nice curl that holds. These are 5 I’m currently loving..

Smashbox X-Rated Mascara |
My current go-to, I love this mascara! It really gives my lashes such volume, definition and it can be buildable. Whether you want a nice, subtle everyday look or intense volume for a night out, this is easily achievable. It’s one of the best mascaras I’ve ever tried. One for anyone who likes definition and dramatic volumised lashes for an evening look.

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara |
The one for anyone who likes the look of ‘feathery’ lashes. This gives me the most beautiful lashes, seriously! This was my go-to for a long time, now it’s more of a second choice but I still adore it. It gives a lovely soft, luscious look but can also be built up for more drama and volume, if need be.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara |
My only gripe with this one is that it’s an absolute pain to take off! You will think you got every last bit of it off only to wake up the next morning looking like a panda 💁 But still, this mascara is great for dramatic, volumised lashes. This is not subtle in the slightest, put this on and your lashes will be looking bold and well, sensational and will stand out. A great evening mascara if that vivid look isn’t for you during the day!

Givenchy Noir Couture Volume Mascara |
I don’t wear this a lot probably because of it being Givenchy, cos y’know it’s probably the only Givenchy item I’ll ever own.. #poor. Anyway, it’s a lovely mascara and as the name would suggest volumises and gives lashes definition and length. I also adore the studded packaging!

Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara |
Again I don’t wear this a lot but it’s a really good mascara! As you would think, it compliments a smokey eye really well. It gives the appearance of thicker, fuller, more voluminous lashes. I love it and I really should start wearing it more!

Which mascara is your favourite? Always looking for recommendations!
