March Favourites.

I say this in every monthly favourites post, I know but damn, where did this month go?! It flew by! It honestly feels like I wrote my February Favourites post just yesterday. March has been a pretty great month for me. I had a really good interview for an internship last Friday, it sounds like such an exciting role so here’s hoping I get it. Cross your fingers for me! I was also in the audience for Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway two weeks ago, that was an experience. I’m a huge fan of them and had never been in a live tv audience before, it’s interesting to see how it all works! The only downside was the 5 hour queue without any guarantee of getting in, but we did and I loved it!

So onto my March beauty favourites! You know how I said in this post I was trying to save money and stop spending so much on makeup? Well, I’m not doing too badly now but I still haven’t completely stopped, oops. There are a few new products featured in this month’s favourites..

March Favourites.

NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam |
Now that it’s spring, I want dewy looking skin more than ever. This NYX Illuminator does the job perfectly either worn on its own or mixed with foundation. It really brightens up your complexion, making it look more luminous. It really is a gorgeous product and something I expect to use up really quickly!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation |
I had seen so many posts recently about the newly reformulated Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, I had to go and buy it. I’ve always been a fan of Bourjois’ foundations and this one definitely does not disappoint! I’m not going to go into too much detail right now as a review will be coming shortly however if you have dry skin and love a lightweight foundation that can make your skin look flawlessly dewy, then say hello to your new favourite foundation, go and buy it, you NEED this!

Topshop Brow Palette |
As I mentioned in my last post here, I’ve recently fallen back in love with my Topshop Brow Palette. I’ve ditched the brow pencils and gone back to this as I find my brows look so much better and so much more natural, the way I like them! Unfortunately, this looks like it may no longer be available (boo!) so I’m going to have to find an alternative soon. If you have any brow palette recommendations please send them my way!

MAC Soar Lip Pencil |
One of my most worn lip products this month has been the beautiful Soar lip pencil from MAC. Something I lusted after for ages and ages and I finally got my hands on it. It’s so lovely. I love how sturdy the pencil is, I thought due to this it might be a little tough to apply but it isn’t, it’s so creamy, it glides on like a dream! I got this to go with my favourite MAC lipstick shade, Brave as not only is it the most gorgeous combo, Brave also has a tendency to bleed so I thought this might stop that. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to but I still love it!

Tanya Burr Cosmetics Soft Luxe Matte Lip Gloss in Martha Moo |
This swoon-worthy matte lip gloss was on my wishlist for ages whilst I desperately waited for a restock! When I first laid eyes on this beauty, it had completely sold out. It’s no surprise really, as it’s a ruddy gorgeous shade. I was so happy when it came back in! If you love the 90s nude lip trend, this is a great option as it’s a lovely muted brown with a slight hint of pink. My only let down is that these don’t dry to a complete matte finish, there is always a slight sheen to them. However, it’s still a beautiful addition to my collection and I love wearing it. I adore the packaging of these aswell, it makes a budget lippy look a little bit more high end!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita |
Another matte liquid lipstick favourite! And a completely new shade choice for me, I own nothing like Lolita but I’ve lusted after it for sometime. Lolita is best described as a chestnut rose shade with warm undertones. I love the formula of these liquid lipsticks and it has quickly become a favourite. It’s smooth, fool proof in that it applies so evenly and has incredible lasting power, it’s among the best out of the many liquid lipsticks formulas I’ve tried. Not to mention, it’s probably the most comfortable matte lipstick formula too.

What have you been loving this month?

Shopping My Stash Rediscoveries.

Even though my makeup collection isn’t as huge as some, it’s still easy for me to forget about all those products I’ve stored away in my drawers when I make way for all the new bits I’m trying out. Recently, due to trying to cut my spending down in order to save some dosh, I’ve been shopping my stash and rummaging through my draws to rediscover some old makeup gems I used to love! It does make me wonder why I stopped using them in the first place seeing as I adored them! But as I said before, it’s usually to make room for all the new stuff. Today, I’m going to share some of my recently rediscovered loves.

Shopping My Stash Rediscoveries.

H&M Blushes in Dusty Rose & Pink Coral |
I’ve mentioned these blushes a lot here on the blog but recently they’ve been on the back burner because I’ve been a little obsessed with my Hourglass Blush ever since I got it and any other rarely gets a look in however that’s now changed and these beauties are finally being used again!

Dusty Rose is probably my favourite out of the two as it’s a cream blusher which suits my dry skin perfectly. It’s exactly the shade you’d expect from the name, a gorgeous dusty rose pink. It is a gorgeous shade for the warmer months!

Pink Coral was recently featured in my Must Have Pink Picks for Spring post. If you’re looking for a nice pop of colour on the cheeks, this is a good one to have. It’s buildable so you can wear it subtly or quite intense, whatever you prefer. Another reason why I love these blushes is the packaging, I still swoon over them now.

MaxFactor Creme Puff Blush in Lovely Pink |
Another blush I’ve recently rediscovered are the MaxFactor Creme Puff Blushes. I own two but Lovely Pink is the one I’ve started using again. These are a great dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting blushes, if they are out of your budget. They have a similar marble effect in the pan and to be honest, there isn’t much difference in the way of formula and how they look on the skin either. The only difference seems to be that the Ambient Lighting blushes are more pigmented and the Creme Puffs have a slight shimmer to them. Lovely Pink is a really flattering shade, especially for pale skin tones.

NARS Blush in Orgasm |
Ah, the cult favourite blush and my first ever NARS purchase. Why did I stop using this? It’s beautiful. I’m so glad it’s made its way back into my everyday makeup draw! It’s a gorgeous peachy pink blush that compliments all skin tones which would explain why it’s so popular, regardless of how pretty it is! If there’s one blush you need to splurge on, I’d say it’s this one.

theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer |
Another cult beauty favourite! One that I literally wore non-stop for months but then came along the beauty that is Becca Champagne Pop! But recently, I decided to put Champagne Pop away and give the Mary-Lou Manizer some love. This is a lot more subtle than Champagne Pop but still packs a punch for a highlighter. This honey-hued powder is great for day to day wear giving you a gorgeous glow making your skin look more radiant. If you prefer a more toned down highlighter that still gives a gorgeous luminous sheen, this one is for you!

Benefit High Beam |
Sometimes, I love to wear a liquid highlight as with dry skin it can be the optimal choice for a stunning glow. However, this got lost within all my makeup and I then completely forgot about it. Now I own two mini sized versions and I can’t get enough especially with it now being spring! This satin-pink highlight provides you with a gorgeous long-lasting radiant look and accents cheek and brow bones for a dewy sheen. It really is beautiful.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer |
I stopped using a primer for ages, I’ve no idea why as I’ve always liked using them but I probably got a bit lazy! However, I’ve started using a new foundation recently (review coming soon!) and I’ve opted to start using a primer again. I forgot how good this Rimmel one was! It’s lightweight, hydrating and does slightly mattify the skin but without drying it out which is perfect for me. It also does a great job of extending the wear of foundation. A great budget option!

Topshop Brow Palette |
I’ve said goodbye to my Benefit Goof Proof pencil and hello to an old favourite! I decided to give this a go again recently and I realised that I’m much better at using palettes to fill my brows rather than pencils and what not. I’m no brow expert, I do struggle and I’m now finding that this brow palette is the easiest option! I use my Real Techniques Brow Brush to apply this and I’m pretty impressed with how my brows are looking recently. Maybe I’ve actually got the hang of it!

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil |
I used to wear eyeliner on my waterline, all the time! For some reason I stopped wearing it so, recently I decided to try wearing it again. Then wondered why I’d ever stopped! It makes me look more awake and defines my eyes. I don’t have small eyes but it really does compliment them to wear eyeliner.. if only I could master how to apply eyeliner on the top lids! Anyway, this Urban Decay pencil is my go to! It’s easy to apply, creamy and like the name would suggest it just glides on and it does not budge!

Have you rediscovered any old makeup favourites recently?

Tanya Burr Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palettes.

I wouldn’t normally buy into celebrity beauty lines. Things like celebrity perfumes and makeup just don’t usually interest me and I’d rather spend my money elsewhere on products I know will be of good quality. However, something about Tanya Burr’s line of cosmetics caught my eye. The reviews are always raving and I guess because she knows her stuff, I trusted that her products will be worthy of my money. So I decided to pick up one of her eyeshadow palettes which I fell in love with which then led me to buy another! So today, I’m going to review them both for you.

Tanya Burr Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palettes.

This was the first palette I bought as the shades were a perfect match for me and just what I like to wear on a day to day basis. There are four shades: Nude Delight, Gold Coin, Enchantment and Bookworm. Nude Delight is a great neutral base shadow, Gold Coin is probably my most used shadow. It’s great for when you want to wear something light and low key. Enchantment is a lovely copper shimmer shade, the only downside is there can be a lot of fall out and isn’t as pigmented as the others. Bookworm is a warm, matte brown which makes for a great crease shade.

Once I bought the Hollywood Eye Palette, I wanted to buy the Birthday Suit palette next. This seemed to be the most popular palette amongst other bloggers and Tanya’s fans and rightly so! It’s gorgeous. It’s part of the ‘Soft Luxe’ collection of products which is said to take the concept of minimalism to a new level. Yet again, Birthday Suit is a great everyday eyeshadow palette full of soft, neutral shades. Marzipan is a lovely champagne pink with a hint of shimmer, Toast is a matte rosy toned brown, Cocoa Sugar is a shimmery caramel brown and Soft Truffle is a stunning matte chocolate brown shade.

These palettes from Tanya Burr Cosmetics are of great quality for their price point. They have great colour payoff, a buttery soft texture and are long lasting and have very little fallout. I love how compact they are which makes them a great option for travelling and I find the heart shaped mirror inside so adorable. If you’re looking for great palettes on a budget, I recommend you give these a go.

Have you tried any of the palettes from Tanya’s range of cosmetics?

Must Have Pink Beauty Picks for Spring.

Spring is one of my favourite seasons along with summer. Not only do the days get longer and the weather starts to improve but there are also changes in my makeup routine. I tend to ditch the full coverage foundations (unless I’m having a particularly bad skin day of course) and reach for lighter options and seemingly, I start to wear a lot more pink! Pink blushes, pink lipsticks etc. So today, I thought I’d share some of my favourite Pink Beauty Picks for Spring..

Must Have Pink Beauty Picks for Spring.

H&M Powder Blusher in Pink Coral |
I love the H&M beauty range and the blushers are amazing! Pink Coral is a fab pick for all year round but it’s even better for spring! It’s sheer formula is quite buildable so if you prefer a more subtle look with just a hint of colour on your cheeks this is perfect or if you prefer something more bold you can also achieve this!

Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Lovely Pink |
I’ve only recently rediscovered my love for these blushes, they are incredible and so pretty! Lovely Pink is a very pale peachy pink shade with a fair amount of glitter in it but don’t fret if you hate glitter because it really looks stunning on the skin! In my opinion, this is one of the best shades for us pale gals. I’m gonna be using this a lot this season.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette |
I’ve had this palette for about 3 years now and it’s still my favourite palette ever and a great option for spring. If you love wearing rosy pink eyeshadows, this palette is a must have. My favourite shades are ‘Dust’, ‘Burnout’ and ‘Buzz’ which if paired together just create the most gorgeous look. All the shadows in this palette are extremely pigmented, buttery and apply like a dream. There is little fallout and you can create a ton of different looks with this palette including a smoky eye thanks to shades like ‘Darkside’ and ‘Blackheart’.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pink Gold |
Every time I look at this eyeshadow, I just swoon. It is so beautiful. Pink Gold is a soft pink cream eyeshadow with flecks of gold glitter included, it’s gorgeous when worn alone or with other shadows. Sometimes I find cream eyeshadows to be a bit hit and miss in terms of pigmentation but this one really packs a punch, usually one or two swipes with your finger is enough. It’s a great pick for if you want something quick and easy to apply.

Clinique Pop Lip Colour in Sweet Pop |
This is, in my eyes, the perfect pink lipstick! I would describe Sweet Pop as a great everyday pink, it’s not too bold but it’s not subtle either, it’s just perfect. It applies opaque and has a glossy finish, it’s texture is so creamy and it leaves my lips feeling nourished and super comfortable. It has a great wear time too. I really need to try more from this range!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Addis Ababa |
It probably comes as no surprise to anyone who regularly reads my blog that a Soft Matte Lip Cream has made the cut. I’m obsessed. Addis Ababa was one of the first shades I bought and I love it! I wouldn’t say it’s as bold as the packaging would suggest but it is quite intense, for me anyway who would normally stick with a subtle lip colour. Addis Ababa is probably best described as a hot pink shade, it’s vibrant with cool undertones and as with all of the lip creams dries down to a comfortable matte finish.

MAC Lipstick in Creme Cup |
If you love a soft almost pastel pink lipstick, I definitely would recommend you pick up Creme Cup. It’s a great lipstick to just pop on if you’re in a hurry. It’s cremesheen formula may not be the most long lasting but as it applies with ease, it’s no problem having to re-apply throughout the day. Creme Cup is the most beautiful shade especially for us pale skinned gals.

Do you wear pinks in Spring? What are your favourite Pink Spring Beauty picks?

Brands I Want To Try More From.
As a self confessed beauty addict, I’ve tried many brands over the years. I love some, I dislike some and there’s a select few that I’m just itching to try more from. These brands are all on the higher end price point which is to be expected as it’s not often I can splurge because I’m skint most of the time (yey). And even though I’ve vowed to spend less on beauty products this year so I can save for trips and what not, it’s almost guaranteed I’m gonna spoil myself with products from at least one of these..
Brands I Want To Try More From.
I’d probably class NARS as one of my favourite brands but the truth is I haven’t actually tried that much from them. In fact, only three products: the Radiant Concealer, Orgasm blush (a big fave) and an Eyeshadow Duo in Eurydice so I really do need to try more from them. A big plus is that TKMaxx are now stocking a whole load of NARS products so it’s much easier to get your hands on them if you’re a bit skint like myself but I can only hope that they get less garish shades in, some of the products are a bit of an eyesore.
Hourglass have literally got to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing beauty brands out there. The gold packaging and the dreamy Ambient Lighting blushes just make me swoon. I finally splurged on Luminous Flush last year and it was probably the best purchase I made in 2016, beauty wise. I can’t stop wearing this, it just gives the most beautiful flush of colour and yep, makes my skin look luminous! I need more.
Another brand I finally splurged on last year was Becca, where I purchased the beautiful Champagne Pop highlighter. Before Champagne Pop came on the radar, I actually wasn’t that aware of Becca and well now it’s safe to say I’m a little obsessed and I want pretty much everything they have to offer.
One of my favourite brands but again like NARS, I actually haven’t tried a huge amount of their products. My favourite is probably the Naked 3 palette which I get so much use out of and the shades suit me to a tee. One product I’m quite disappointed with though is the Naked Skin Concealer which is funny as everyone raves about it, I do love how creamy it is but the coverage is a bit meh.
I may own a fair few MAC lipsticks but I haven’t tried anything else from them apart from one blush (Peachy Keen). I’m not really sure why I haven’t given anything else a try, I think I always opt for another brand when purchasing makeup products. However, I do have a really long list of things I’d like to give a whirl!
Stila is another brand I made my first purchase from in 2016 when I bought the gorgeous Convertible Color in Lillium which is quickly becoming one of my favourite blushes! I’m also addicted to the Stay All Day Liquid lipsticks which are amazing. You can read a full review on them here. Stila have recently bought out a load of new products I really want to try, they look so beautiful!
