Spring Nail Picks.

Since this coming Sunday officially marks the start of Spring (hooray!), I thought I would put together a post featuring my favourite spring nail picks. I wouldn’t consider myself a huge nail polish fan and you’d probably think differently if you saw my collection of nail polishes, I own far too many for someone who doesn’t paint her nails regularly. The reason being is that I’m absolutely terrible at nail painting, a complete fail most of the time so therefore I rarely bother but once Spring comes around, I’m much more likely to be seen without bare nails as I find lighter shades so much easier to work with..

Spring Nail Picks.

If you love to wear pastel shades in the Spring then I would recommend you try Barry M’s range of pastel shades. In my opinion, they are the best on the market and are reasonably priced. As you can see, I own a fair few from both the Speedy Quick Dry and Original Nail Paint ranges. The Speedy Quick Dry polishes are incredible for those of us who are inpatient or make a mess when painting our nails as smudging is less likely due to the fact these dry in literally seconds and they have a new and improved wider brush which makes application more precise and quicker, most of the time I manage to achieve a mistake free nail. The Speedy Quick Dry shades are: Eat My Dust (pale blue), In A Heartbeat (coral pink) and Lap of Honour (lilac) and the Original shades are: Mint Green & Blue Moon.

This next shade may not be to everyones taste. The Models Own My Midori shade is an intense in your face neon green, it’s not a shade I would choose to wear (I won it & forgot about it until now!) however I’m sure to some people this is a great Spring shade. Unfortunately this is no longer available as it was Limited Edition however Toxic Apple is very similar if you like the look of this. If you like your nail polish bright and bold, The Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish in Round & Round in Circles is the perfect yellow shade.

I adore the Soigne Nail Lacquer in Fruit De La Passion, a gorgeous peach shade and part of their Macaron collection.. mm, I could eat a macaron right now. I have a feeling I’m going to be wearing this shade a lot this Spring, it’s so beautiful. Another polish I expect to get a lot of wear out of this Spring is the Ciate Paint Pot in Dolls House which has to be the prettiest nail polish I’ve ever set eyes on. It’s quite hard to see on the colour wheel but this shade is a very pale pink with specks of glitter, I would describe it as the perfect girly girl shade and it would be a great choice if you are attending a Spring wedding or even if you’re getting married yourself!

Lastly, if you like to stick with your reds and pinks in the Spring time rather than going with brights or pastels, both the Essence The Gel Nail Polish in Va Va Voom & The Lola Barcelona Nail Polish in Gracias are great choices. Va Va Voom is a gorgeous coral red, it’s matte, absolutely stunning and is under £2. Gracias is your typical glossy fuchsia shade, however, this polish is formulated with diamond dust making it extra strong and long lasting.

What are your favourite shades/polishes to wear in the Spring?

All That Jazz Nail Lacquers

Whilst sorting through my nail polish collection this weekend, I came across these snazzy nail lacquers from All That Jazz. Unused and forgotten about.. I had actually won these late last year and must of chucked them in with the rest of my nail polishes to be forgotten about. The perfect time to rediscover them as these are ideal for A/W and of course, Christmas.

All That Jazz Nail Lacquers

(L-R)- Front & Centre, Standing O, Live For The Applause, Critic’s Choice

All That Jazz as far as I’m aware are a fairly unknown brand. Mainly consisting of nail lacquers, nail art and nail tools, they also have a collection of ‘Bee Bar’ products. Some of which I own too and will be reviewing in the near future.

The four lacquers I have are: Front & Centre, Standing O, Live For The Applause and Critic’s Choice. I love the names! I love how they all seem to represent a show or performance which I’m sure you know ‘All That Jazz’ is a song from the musical Chicago! So theres a definite theme going on here!

I would have to say my favourite is Critic’s Choice. Mainly because it gives the most coverage out of the four and can be worn on bare nails too. I do think they all look nice on bare nails however Critic’s Choice more so. Obviously, these are even better when worn over the top of a nail colour.. Front & Center is simply stunning over a black polish and really adds something to an otherwise simple nail.

As you know with any glitter polish, these are pretty hardwearing and if I’m honest somewhat of a pain to remove but it’s worth it as they look beautiful, dry almost instantly and last a good few days.

When I’m back from my holiday, I’m removing my summery coral nails for the last time and painting them with these straight away just in time for the cold autumn/winter weather and finally accepting summer is well and truly over!

Do you wear glitter nail polish? Would you wear this offering from All That Jazz?

5 Must Have Beauty Products For Autumn

As I sat down and began to write this post, we just turned the central heating on for the first time in months. It’s officially Autumn! Although I could do with it being a little bit warmer for a while longer, I’m not quite ready yet. Now that September is in full swing, over the next few weeks I’ll be gradually introducing all my autumn products back into my make up routine – darker eyeshadows for sultry smokey eyes, a darker lip and a heavier base. So today I thought I’d share my 5 Must Have Beauty Products for Autumn

5 Must Have Beauty Products For Autumn

I’ve never really been someone who’d wear a dark lip as being pale, I’m terrified that they will make me look washed out. Therefore I would only go as far as wearing a red but even then I would still be a little sceptical about it. That is until I decided to take a chance, be brave and pick up this Bourjois Rogue Edition Lipstick in 18 Violine Strass. Violine Strass to some people probably wouldn’t be considered that dark but to me it’s dark. I would describe it as a plum violet shade and it is very beautiful. It doesn’t wash me out which is essential, it glides onto the lips effortlessly whilst also giving immense moisture and hydration. It has great lasting power of around 4-5 hours max! A great lipstick if like me, you’ve never worn a dark lipstick and you’re ready to take the plunge.

For smokey eyes, I find the Essence 3D Eyeshadows excellent. I’m still very much learning when it comes to applying eyeshadow perfectly so the Essence 3D Eyeshadows are a great alternative when you haven’t got a lot of time to sit down with eyeshadow brushes and a palette to attempt your best. The shade, Irresistable Choco Dream is stunning. I don’t like a heavy smokey eye, it just doesn’t suit me. Irresistable Choco Dream is perfect for achieving a natural looking smokey eye with it’s light champagne/deep brown duo.

Adding a bit of liner to the lower lash line in Autumn is an essential for me, I don’t go a day without it as I find it compliments my eyes so well. The Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Stag is a fairly new favourite, unfortunately it’s exclusive to the On The Run palette which is a pain as when I run out, that’s it. I can never use this shade again. Stag is a dark brown with a satin like finish, it’s extremely creamy when applied and doesn’t tug at all. It also does not budge or fade until you come to remove your make up in the evening.

If you’re as pale as I am, you’ll know that when it comes to blush you can’t go too dark or it’d be an absolute disaster and you’ll end up looking like a clown, nobody wants that. I find that the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Seductive Pink to be the perfect transition from summer to autumn. It’s still fairly light and subtle but not as much as Lovely Pink. It is definitely a lot more pigmented adding more of a flush of colour to the cheeks.

When it comes to autumn nails, I usually just stick to the reds and fuchsias. However when I won this Topshop Nails in Wardrobe it seemed like the ideal nail polish for this time of year. The shade ‘Wardrobe’ is a deep, navy blue and is a lovely colour.

Birchbag Birchbox July 2015
When I heard Birchbox were swapping their box for a bag this month I was super excited to see what they had in store. When it landed on my doorstep, I couldn’t of been happier! The Birchbag is a fluorescent neon splash proof pouch that comes in 4 colours, each inspired by dream destinations of four beauty editors. The Birchbag is perfect for anyone who’s going on holiday this summer. It’s not big enough to store full size make up items or many travel size items for that matter however it will be handy storage for say a few beach essentials or maybe even your passport and travel documents. I really love this idea of swapping the box for a bag and not only is the bag great but the contents this month are pretty good too. Want to see what I got in my Birchbag? Read on..

Pura Vida Bracelet Headbands
First up is something a little different.. At first I had no clue what this was until I read the booklet. It’s a pretty lace headband that will be perfect if you’re lying around sunbathing or exploring wherever it is you may be on holiday. This is a nice little addition among beauty products.

Unani Body Treatment Aloe Vera
If you end up getting bitten or sunburnt on your holiday then this is the perfect product for that. An ultra-hydrating lotion packed with aloe vera to calm your skin. It can also be used on blemishes, eczema etc. I’ve given this a go already and it is very good at relieving any pain or itching.

Pop Beauty Eyeshadow Trio in Peach Parfait
I was so happy to see this eyeshadow trio from Pop Beauty in my Birchbag, I’ve never tried any products by Pop Beauty but these eyeshadows are pigmented, silky, long wearing and look gorgeous when worn together. I’m going to be getting a lot of use out of this palette!

Soigne Nail Lacquer in Fruit De La Passion
I’ve heard a lot about Soigne nail lacquers but never have I tried them so I was happy to see this was included! Fruit De La Passion is a lovely wearable summer colour, the perfect holiday mani. I haven’t worn this yet but I have high hopes for this nail lacquer from Soigne!

Indemne Eau de Genie
I actually thought this was a perfume at first but it’s in fact a treatment for your skin for usage after cleansing. It’s described as a ‘skincare supercharger in a bottle’. Packed with four organic waters such as lemon and apricot and is said to rejuvenate, brighten and soften your skin.

Benefit Dream Screen
The last product is this handy little sample of Benefit’s Dream Screen. This is an ultra lightweight sunscreen with a matte finish that is said to absorb quickly while keeping your complexion hydrated and protected with SPF 45. This sample is so tiny that I’d say you’d only get a few uses out of it so I’m keeping this until I go abroad in October.

Each product this month as you can probably tell was inspired by summer, travel and more. All perfect items if you’re going abroad or even sunbathing in your own garden! I especially love the Soigne Nail Lacquer as it is just so pretty and my perfect nail colour, also the Pop Beauty Eyeshadow Trio is just beyond stunning and like I said, I will be getting a lot of use out of this palette for sure.

If you like the look of the Birchbag and want to get your hands on one, you still can! You will have to subscribe to Birchbox however but with amazing boxes every month for only £12 you can’t go wrong! Just sign up here where we will both get £5 to spend in the Birchbox shop!

Do you subscribe to Birchbox? What do you think of this months Birchbag?

May Favourites

So another month has come and gone and May went by so quickly, is it just me or is time flying by?! How is it nearly summer? Not that I’m complaining! Most of my favourites this month are actually samples funnily enough, from magazines to beauty boxes! So a lot of purchases are probably going to be made in June, my bank account will not be happy! Carry on reading to find out what I’ve been loving in May..

May Favourites

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Polishes
I’ve previously reviewed these lovely nail polishes from Barry M, you can read that here. I’ve been loving these polishes, they’re just so easy to use especially if you’re a bit cack handed like myself and make a huge mess when painting your nails, however you won’t with these! Barry M have just launched some new shades to the range, so I’ll be picking some of them up for sure!

Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum
Also reviewed here is this serum by Clinique. I’ve been using this non-stop since getting it with this months InStyle, I’m afraid it’s probably going to run out soon and it is so expensive. So as much as I love it and it’s a great serum that I would definitely recommend, I probably won’t be purchasing a full size product, unless I win the lottery or something. Poor people problems.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Tinted Moisturiser
I received a sample of this Caudalie tinted moisturiser in this months Birchbox and have been loving it! I initially thought it would be too dark for me, but it is actually the perfect match. It really evens out my skin tone and gives a nice amount of coverage, obviously not a huge amount, but enough and it would be a perfect light base for summer. I would even say I prefer it to the BareMinerals Complexion Rescue! This is one product I’m definitely going to be purchasing a full size version of!

Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm
I’ve been reaching for this cleansing balm most days since receiving it in my Look Fantastic box this month. It’s a lovely cleanser, leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth after usage and this little pot definitely goes a long way, there is still so much left! Again very expensive, so I’m not sure I will buy a full size pot, however I really want to.

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
I got this sample of the Perversion Mascara in my Naked On The Run Palette and I would say its now tied with the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara as my current favourite mascara. I’ve been reaching for it a lot! It gives so much volume and length, no clumps and intense colour! I love it.

I’d love to know what you have been loving in May?
