May 2015 Birchbox

May 2015 Birchbox

This months Birchbox is a good one – the theme this month is ‘Free Your Mind’. The box as you may be able to tell allows you to get creative and customise and colour in the box however you like! I’m so excited about this – I’m such a big kid, I love colouring in ha! Not only that but if you share your creation with Birchbox you may even win £500 worth of goodies from the Birchbox shop!! Yes please. Let’s see what’s in May’s Birchbox..

May 2015 Birchbox

WAH Nails The WAH Girl Press On Nails
This month Birchbox gave us subscribers the choice between 3 WAH London products – nail polish, a nail art pen or press on nails. I love press on nails as they are so easy and quick to apply so I chose these. I didn’t know what design I was going to get however I really love the one I got. I can’t wait to wear these and see how long they stay on my nails for!

Number 4 Lumiere d’Hiver Reconstructing Masque
This is a hair mask by a brand I’m new to, Number 4. I haven’t used many hair masks in the past but I’m looking forward to giving this a go and to see the results it gives, a full bottle is pretty pricey at £36.00 so you’d hope that it’s a good product! I do however wish it didn’t come in a satchet – I hate nothing more than samples that come in satchets.

Mirenesse Mattfinity Lip Rogue in No. 3 New York
This lip rogue is gorgeous – No.3 New York is an orange toned Red shade and looks absolutely stunning on the lips. It also smells sooo good – I think it’s quite like a pic ‘n’ mix sweet smell! Yummy. This is meant to be a matte lip product, however I wouldn’t say its that matte. It’s not drying at all and is comfortable to wear – even a bit moisturising so it’s a winner in my books. I’ll be wearing this a lot.

PARLOR by Jeff Chastain Moisturising Sea Salt Spray
I was so happy to see a sea salt spray in this months box.. I always say I will buy one and try to achieve that gorgeous beach hair look I always lust for but I never actually buy one. So I will definitely be trying this out, I really hope it delivers.

RMK Point Make Up Remover
I’ve already used this make up remover from RMK and I’m really impressed. It is so good at removing make up, I would say even better than the micellar waters I use. However, it does feel a little odd on my skin, it has quite a greasy feel to it and it did put me off a bit, I will keep using it but I doubt I would ever buy it.

Caudalie Radiance Tinted Moisturizer
The last product is from Caudalie and it is their Radiance Tinted Moisturizer in the shade 01 Light, I thought it would be the perfect match, however having swatched it I do think it will be a little dark for me which is a bit of shame.

That’s that for May’s Birchbox, I’m really happy with the contents of this box. I will use pretty much everything which is a bit rare for me with beauty boxes, the only disappointment is the Caudalie Tinted Moisturizer, other than that I love everything!

If you wish to sign up to Birchbox, you can use my own referral link here. You’ll get 50 points when you join up which is worth £5 to spend in the Birchbox e-shop!

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry

The Speedy Quick Dry nail paints are a new range of nail polishes from Barry M who are known for having some of the best nail polishes on the market. These Speedy Quick Dry nail paints claim to dry in a matter of seconds and feature a new wider flat brush for an even easier application. The range consists of 9 pastel shades and I picked up – In A Heartbeat, Eat My Dust & Lap of Honour.

Now I’m not the best at painting my nails, I usually end up making a huge mess getting it all on my fingers. However these Barry M nail paints have made application so much easier, probably down to the new flat brush which is wider than the brushes in other Barry M nail paints. I simply start at the base of my nail and work my way up and the brush covers pretty much my whole nail, easy peasy. I am usually quite impatient waiting for my nails to dry also and usually mess it up that way by accidentally touching something when they are still drying, however these are literally dry within about 30 seconds or so, amazing!

For the shades In A Heartbeat and Lap of Honour you only need two coats to get a nice even coverage, however with Eat My Dust as it’s quite a sheer pale blue, three coats is best. Wear time is about 3 days before chips start to appear, however it wasn’t until day 4 that they started to look a bit messy.

I hadn’t painted my nails in a long time until I bought these nail paints but now I’ve seen how good they are and how easy they are to apply, I think I’ll definitely be buying some more.

Have you tried these Barry M nail paints? What do you think?

Birchbox April
Birchbox April

You may remember last month I posted about the You Beauty Discovery box and mentioned how I had originally cancelled my subscription and I joined again when I saw how good that months box was. About a week passed and I somehow ended up on the Birchbox website, I’ve seen many good reviews about these boxes and while on there I decided to cancel my You Beauty Discovery subscription for good and join Birchbox! It’s a little more pricey at £12.95 (inc. postage) however the boxes seem well worth it. I did receive March’s box but decided I would start the reviews with April’s which I’m very impressed with, bar one item.. (vitamins, again?!)

Birchbox April

This month’s box was named ‘Royally Good’ to celebrate the imminent arrival of the new royal baby this month so Birchbox put together a box full of Royally Good products – five luxe beauty samples and a bonus sixth product and you would either receive it all in a blue or pink box. Here is what I received in my box..

Inner Me Energise Me
Now I’m not going to say much about this because if you’ve read my review of this months Look Fantastic box you would know I’m not too keen on receiving food supplements/tablets in these kind of boxes. I won’t be taking these as I already take supplements.

Pommade Divine Nature’s Remedy Balm
This is a multi-purpose balm for use on dry patches, chapped lips, bruises and eczema amongst many other things. This product has been around since 1800 which is amazing and it contains up to 97% natural ingredients. I can’t wait to give this a go!

Percy & Reed Smooth, Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil
After not being too keen on the Percy & Reed Volumising Mousse, I wasn’t too impressed to see this in the box. However I have already given it a go and it definitely does a good job! You just apply it to towel-dried hair, dry and style as you desire. Percy & Reed also suggest you warm a little in your palm and lightly run a large blusher brush over it and run the brush over your hair to smooth away flyaways! I tend to have a lot of flyaways so I’m definitely going to give this a try!

Lola Barcelona Nail Polish in Gracia
I’ve never actually heard of Lola Barcelona before but this nail polish is an absolutely gorgeous Fuchsia shade. I don’t have any colour like this in my nail polish collection at the moment so I have a feeling I might be using it a lot. The nail polish is formulated with diamond dust to maintain extra strength and durability which means you can skip the top coat if you’re feeling lazy, which I am most of the time when painting my nails!

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
In my opinion, the best product in this months box comes from Liz Earle. The Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser is something I’ve wanted to try for a long time now but I’ve never gone and bought it. So seeing this in the box made me so happy! I like the fact I can now try this out and see how I get along with it without buying a full size bottle, but having used it once already I’m pretty sure I will be purchasing one! An amazing product.

Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Supreme Mascara
I’ve been dying to get my hands on any Laura Mercier product for ages now so when I saw that Birchbox were letting us choose which Laura Mercier sample we could receive I was over the moon. Unfortunately, I wasn’t quick enough to choose the Foundation Primer which was a bit gutting as I’ve heard such good things about it. So it was between the eye pencil and mascara so I chose the mascara. I haven’t tried it yet as I have about a million mascaras lying around but I can’t wait to give it a go.

A really great box this month from Birchbox, alot better than March’s. I’m so glad I signed up!
