Lush Haul; Valentine's Day Collection & More

When I first laid eyes on Lush’s Valentine’s Day collection, I just knew I needed to make an order. I got a little click happy and just chose all the things I would’ve liked and ended up with nearly £70 worth of goodies arriving at my door, but I have no regrets as it’s been a while since I treated myself to a large haul. Without further ado, here’s what I got including some non Valentine’s Day collection products..

Lush Haul; Valentine's Day Collection & More

The Comforter Bubble Bar |
This is my only repurchase in this haul, I had The Comforter before and I loved it but silly me didn’t realise I could break pieces off and ended up using the whole thing in one bath, oh dear. I was a Lush newbie back then, ok?! I’ve since learnt my lesson and I now know a lot of Lush products you can use a few times rather than in one go! The Comforter is made with some amazing ingredients such as Bergamot Oil and Cypress Oil which makes for a really relaxing bubble bath that leaves your skin baby soft after! Also pink bath water, what’s not to love?! This is also available in a shower cream which I’ve gotta try.

Rose Jam Bubbleroon |
I first saw this beauty over on Sophie’s blog ages ago and I finally got round to buying it. It’s so pretty and glittery, I almost don’t want to use it! Again, another bubble bar that turns your bath pink, I can’t wait to give it a try. It’s said to ‘pep up your spirits’ to leave your mind clear and boost your mood, sounds like a nice treat after a long, stressful day. It contains some lovely ingredients too such as Rose oil, lemon oil and shea butter.

Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar |
I’ve seen this amazing bubble bar everywhere in the past two years that I’ve been blogging and I always forget to buy it! I wouldn’t say I’m someone who is totally addicted to unicorn things (although I’m not gonna lie there are some really pretty unicorn themed items around!) but I love the look of this bubble bar. I watched a demo on Youtube and it looks like it creates an insane amount of bubbles. Ingredients include ylang ylang, lavender and neroli.

Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb |
Is this not the prettiest bath bomb you’ve ever seen? Based on a medieval love potion, it features real rosebuds and is scented with an alluring combo of floral orris root powder, rose and lemon. I can imagine this must just create the loveliest, relaxing bath.. here’s hoping anyway!

Lovestruck Bubble Bar |
The one item from the Valentine’s Day collection I knew I needed! The Heart Eyes emoji is one of my most used emojis and when I saw this I just had to have it. Ingredients include Sicilian lemon oil to cleanse, Geranium oil to tone and Petitgrain Oil to refresh. It’s got a lovely citrus scent too.

Prince Charming Shower Cream |
After disliking Snow Fairy’s overpowering sickly sweet scent (unpopular opinion, I know!), I decided to try out another Lush shower cream – this time I chose Prince Charming. It contains Sweet marshmallow root and Vanilla pod infusion and it’s scent is sweet but not as intense as Snow Fairy. It also contains cocoa butter and fresh pomegranate juice to leave skin soft and refreshed.

Cup O’ Coffee Face and Body Mask |
Oh my god, I love the smell of this. Anything that smells of coffee is a winner. I love drinking coffee but I also love the scent so this was a must buy. I’ve not tried it yet but it sounds incredible! It features roasted cocoa extract, vetivert and coriander oil. I feel like this would be a good mask to use in the mornings, if you have time. I get the feeling it would be refreshing and awakening, just like your morning cup of coffee.

Tea Tree Toner Water |
This toner contains tea tree water that is antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial which is great for spot prone skin. I wouldn’t say my skin suffers with spots that much but I do like to keep it to a minimum so prevention is key therefore I need products like these in my routine. As it’s a spray, I find it really refreshing which makes a change from my regular toner where I apply with a cotton pad which you can also do with this, if you prefer.

Roots Scalp Treatment |
I have always dreamt of having voluminous hair but I’m stuck with flat, fine and dull looking hair so I’m always looking for products to change that. I also have a really dry, itchy scalp so Roots sounded like something I needed to try. It contains mint to stimulate the scalp and hair follicles and extra virgin olive oil, nettle and honey to condition and strengthen the hair. The only downside is that it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, a known ingredient to irritate the scalp causing it to flake so I’m not really sure how this is going to work. I’ve switched to an SLS free shampoo because of my dry scalp so I kind of want to avoid any other SLS products. I might give this a try once a month and see how it goes.

The Kiss Lip Scrub |
I love Lush lip scrubs, more so the Bubblegum one because it smells and tastes sooo good! The Kiss is once again a gorgeous lip scrub with a beautiful scent however the taste isn’t so good. It’s rather disgusting. Now I love salt but wow this was way too salty. However as all Lush lip scrubs go, it’s very good at exfoliating and leaving your lips prepped. The cutest thing about this scrub is the little hearts on top, though they don’t last long!

February Favourites, Skincare, Makeup

February always seems to drag even though it’s the shortest month. Saying that though, 2017 is already flying by! But I am happy that it’s almost spring, the weather is getting slightly better (if we completely skip the force that was Storm Doris) and the evenings are getting longer which just makes me a lot happier in general. I’ve been trying out a lot of new products this month, I should’ve been on a spending ban but as I mentioned in my last post, My Recent Makeup Purchases, that went completely out the window!

So without further ado, here’s what I’ve been loving this month..

February Favourites, Skincare, Makeup
MAKEUP

My most reached for eyeshadow this month comes from Tanya Burr’s line of cosmetics. Considering how reasonably priced these palettes are, they are such good quality like you’d expect from your more higher end brands. The palette contains 4 wearable shades – Nude Delight and Gold Coin are my most used shades, great for a nice subtle look when you don’t want anything too heavy. Nude Delight makes a great base shadow too. Enchantment is a stunning bronze with glitter chunks in it, it’s really beautiful and Bookworm is a lovely warm brown. I also love the packaging – it’s compact and would definitely be a palette to take with you travelling.
Since getting my eyebrows waxed and shaped at Benefit’s Carnaby Boutique in late January (I definitely recommend, by the way) I have started using my Benefit brow products a lot more than I used to. Goof Proof is a brilliant pencil which comes in 6 shades, I currently use 5 – Deep which I think may be a little dark for me, however, for now, it works. I will pick up 4 – Medium when I can. If you’re a bit cack handed and not a brow whizz, Goof Proof is your best friend. This makes filling and shaping your brows so easy.
I’ve already written a full review on these gorgeous liquid lipsticks from Stila here, if you fancy a read. My favourite shade is Perla and I can’t stop wearing it! A gorgeous dusty pink, I was certain this would wash me out but it doesn’t. I love the formula, it’s creamy on application and then dries to matte within a matter of seconds, super comfortable too!
SKINCARE

This product is raved about by so many and I can see why. An exfoliating toner, I use this pretty much every morning to smooth out, brighten and nourish my skin to achieve a glowing complexion. I find this has reduced my pores, blackheads and the tiny bumpy spots I have on my forehead have significantly reduced too. I’m now running low but I’ll definitely be buying another.
My current go to facial oil, this is perfect for dehydrated, sensitive skin and contains a whole bunch of amazing ingredients such as Strawberry Seed, Chamomile, Arnica and Primrose Oil. It leaves the skin feeling calm and strengthened.

OTHER

Adult colouring books are all the rage at the moment and I absolutely love them. When I came across this fashion flat lay book, I was over the moon. It’s a must have for any fashion fan, it’s a great way to just relax and chill out when you’re feeling a bit stressed or bored.
What have you been loving this month?

Two to try from Aromatherapy Associates.

Aromatherapy Associates are a brand which have always intrigued me. A natural skin and body care brand, famous for their luxury bath oils, I knew I just had to give them a try. Luckily for me, I recently won two of their products – The Revive Body Gel and their hydrating Inner Strength Soothing Face Oil. Both wonderful, luxurious products, it’s safe to say I’m now a fully fledged Aromatherapy Associates fan.

Two to try from Aromatherapy Associates.

Before trying the Revive Body Gel, I’d only ever used lotions, butters and creams to soften and hydrate my skin so I was definitely intrigued by it. This light gel is so refreshing, it’s not sticky or greasy in the slightest so it sinks into the skin in a matter of seconds which is great as I hate waiting around for body care products to dry! It has a gorgeous scent due to the essential oils it contains – Rosemary, Grapefruit and Juniper. The Revive Body Gel increases circulation and eliminates toxins from the body and it is also said to improve the appearance of cellulite. While it may be, in my eyes, expensive for a body product, it is definitely well worth the money – it’s a real luxurious treat that your skin deserves!
When this arrived in the post, it was great timing as I desperately wanted to try out a new face oil! The Inner Strength oil is formulated to hydrate and replenish dry, sensitive skin. It contains prebiotics such as Arnica, which helps calm and minimise redness and sensitivity along with other ingredients such as Strawberry Seed and Chamomile to restore moisture levels. Even though I may not have overly sensitive skin, this still works a charm.
Have you ever tried Aromatherapy Associates? Which products are your favourites?

My Current Skincare Favourites

As a makeup lover, you need to invest in a good skincare routine to enable you to make the most of your makeup. What’s the point in owning tons and tons of products if you don’t look after your skin? They just won’t look good. Even if you don’t wear makeup, it’s necessary to have a good skincare routine to protect you against harsh cold winters and ageing. Since I’ve become more of a makeup devotee these last few years not only has my makeup collection grown but my skincare collection too. It’s a bit ridiculous how many products I own. But I do use most of them frequently, so it’s totally justified (or so I tell myself!). Today, I’m sharing my current favourites!

My Current Skincare Favourites

CLEANSERS

Probably my favourite part of a skincare routine. It can be so satisfying and refreshing removing all that makeup and dirt off your face! My overall favourite is the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel, I will always rave about this. It is so worth spending more than I normally would for a cleanser (£29.50). I love using this in the mornings as it is so awakening and revitalising. It is also great at removing makeup, even stubborn mascaras. It’s a gel to oil formula and when in contact with water it creates more of a lather. It contains ingredients such as Vitamin C & E so you know your skin is getting a real treat!

A newer cleanser in my collection is Lush’s Ultrabland Cleanser. I picked this up on a whim when I went into store not long after Christmas in the hope of grabbing some sale bargains but I was too late (boo!) however I ended up purchasing this cleanser. This cleanser is a lot thicker and creamier than Oskia’s offering which is perfect for my dry skin. A little goes a long way with this cleanser and it leaves my skin feeling so soft and supple.

I’m not massively into face washes but after buying Soap & Glory’s The Whole Glam Lot before Christmas, it gave me the opportunity to try the Face Soap and Clarity Vitamin C Facial Wash. At first, I was a bit sceptical as I thought this wash contained microbeads but after a bit of investigating I found out they were actually jojoba beads. I don’t use this as much as the other two cleansers but it’s nice if I just want something quick and easy! It contains a ton of amazing ingredients such as Superfruit Yuzu which contains Vitamin C. It’s also cheap as chips so if you’re looking for something reasonably priced that does the job quickly, give this a try.

Of course, I couldn’t talk about cleansers without mentioning Bioderma. Their Micellar Water is my favourite beating the likes of Garnier to the top spot. I probably don’t use it as much as I used to but again, it’s great if you want something quick and easy to remove your makeup with.

TONERS AND EXFOLIATORS

The next step after cleansing is to go in with a toner or exfoliator. At the moment, I’m loving the Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads. They work so well on my skin, reducing my blackheads significantly and making it look more radiant. I’ve nearly run out but I will definitely be repurchasing and I might even give the Extreme Night Pads a go.

I’ve always wanted to try the Pixi Glow Tonic and just recently, I’ve been giving it a whirl and now I see what the hype is all about, what an amazing product! I use this most mornings now as it really is a ‘glow giver’. It contains glycolic acid, ginseng, aloe vera and is also alcohol-free. It leaves the skin looking healthy and radiant.

For a gentle toner, I swear by No 7’s Soft and Soothed Gentle Toner. I’m on my 3rd or 4th bottle since discovering it and I don’t think I’ll ever use anything else. If you have sensitive skin, this is the perfect toner for you. It’s refreshing, hydrating and leaves my skin prepped for the next step.

SERUMS AND OILS

Since getting serious about skincare and my routine, I have tried many serums. Probably more than any other skincare product but I’ve never really had one where I thought ‘I must repurchase this’. At the moment, I’m using Avene’s Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Serum which I think is going to become a firm favourite. It’s light, gentle but really packs a punch when it comes to hydration and my skin is really lapping this stuff up. If you’ve got dry skin, do give this a try.

I stopped using facial oils for a few months, I’m not sure why. Before that, I was using Nuxe’s Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil which was fine, it was great for my skin. However recently, I’ve been giving Caudalie’s Divine Oil a go. Like Nuxe’s offering, it’s a dry oil that can be used on the face, body and hair, but I only ever use it on the face. It contains a blend of oils such as grape and sesame which make this oil feel luxurious on the skin and leaves it feeling nourished. It’s light floral scent just makes this a lovely all round product.

MOISTURISERS AND EYE CREAMS

The last step and for us lot with dry skin probably the best part. For the day, I mainly use Superdrug’s Naturally Radiant Cream. This pot seems never ending and a little definitely goes a long way! I use the Normal/Combi version which is actually perfect for my dry skin, it’s thick enough and provides a lot of hydration and the moisture that my skin needs. It is enriched with plants such as Sugar Beet and Kiwi Fruit which provide nourishment and antioxidant protection. This cream also contains SPF15 which is always a bonus!

When I’m not using Superdrug’s Naturally Radiant Cream, I’ll opt for the Soap and Glory Speed Plump Moisturiser which is formulated for dry and dehydrated skin. A great base for makeup, it makes the skin more plump and dewy. It contains a watermelon extract which gives hydration, a marine plant said to smooth wrinkles and raspberry stem cells which help with elasticity.

In the evenings, I use the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion + which I feel like I’ve been using forever! It is almost finished and I recommend you buy the pump version as it’s a right pain in the arse to get any product out when practically empty! After removing makeup, this is the best thing to put moisture back into my skin, it’s an incredibly thick lotion which I find too much for a morning moisturiser before makeup. My skin is left feeling soft and supple.

Lastly, I apply eye cream and for the last few months, I’ve been using the Botanics Radiant Youth Hydrating Eye Cream. It’s nothing special but it does the job just fine. I haven’t seen massive differences in the eye area but it’s definitely hydrating and makes the area look a little brighter and more awake.

Favourite Products of 2016, 2016 Favourites.

I know this is a little bit late, I had planned to get this up on New Year’s Eve, but life got in the way. And hey, better late than never! I loved a lot of makeup and skincare products in 2016 but a select few favourites were constantly being used and will probably be used throughout 2017 too. I also made a lot of new beauty discoveries in 2016 and tried a lot of new brands I hadn’t used before. Here’s a roundup of my most loved beauty products from the last year..

Favourite Products of 2016, 2016 Favourites

I’ll start with skincare and my now favourite cleanser, the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel. I bought this in the summer and have rarely opted for any other cleanser since. I’m surprised it’s not empty yet! It’s well worth the price tag, it’s light and great for removing makeup. I also love using it in the mornings as it’s so refreshing and really awakens you. I love how my skin feels and looks after removal. Clean and radiant!

I have gone through a fair few serums throughout 2016 and lately I’ve been loving Avene’s Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Serum for dry, sensitive skin. I wouldn’t say my skin is overly sensitive but it’s very dry and this has been lovely. It’s very light, soothing and as the name suggests, hydrating.

The Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads have been a welcome addition to my skincare routine. I use these every morning after cleansing and they are incredible! At first, my skin was a little sensitive to them but now my skin laps it up and is left looking smooth and radiant. My blackheads are significantly less visible too.

Now onto makeup! As I mentioned in my Two Foundations To Try From L’Oreal post, I’ve been absolutely loving the Nude Magique Cushion Foundation the past few months. It gives the skin a lovely dewy glow with a light, sheer coverage. It’s compact and perfect to pop in your handbag if you need to touch up on the go.

Two brands I was introduced to in 2016 were Becca and Hourglass. I had lusted after their products for so long and finally splashed out on the Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector and Luminous Flush from the Ambient Lighting Blush range with my birthday money and I haven’t stopped reaching for them since!

Both are well worth the money. Champagne Pop is absolutely stunning and just makes your skin look flawless. Luminous Flush is beautiful and adds a nice pop of colour to the cheeks. Another highlighter I loved in 2016 was theBalm’s Mary-Lou Manizer. I don’t reach for it as much now but it’s a beautiful highlighter!

Mascara wise, I loved Clinique’s High Impact Mascara. Unfortunately, it’s dried up a bit now so I need a new one! It gave my lashes incredible volume, length, and definition.

Favourite Products of 2016, 2016 Favourites, NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams

My favourite lip products of 2016 have to be the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams and MAC Brave Lipstick. I can’t stop wearing Brave. I have loads of lip products but for some reason, I just keep reaching for this. It’s such a wearable, day-to-day shade and it suits me to a tee.

And as for the Soft Matte Lip Creams, I also can’t get enough of these. I’m basically hooked. I have 5 at the moment, but I’m sure I’ll be buying more throughout 2017. They’re matte but comfortable on the lips and not drying in the slightest. The shade range is great and not to mention, they smell like cake. Yum.

Other favourites from 2016 include Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb, Spectrum Collection Brushes (The Siren Smoke Set, especially), Bourjois City Radiance Foundation,  No7 Soft & Soothed Toner, Lush BIG Shampoo and EOS Lip Balms.

What were your favourite products of 2016?
