Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse.

I’ve always been interested in Double Cleansing. It makes sense, doesn’t it? Why would you use just one cleanser in the hope of removing everything the day has thrown at your skin from the likes of makeup to pollutants? One cleanse just isn’t going to be enough. I have tried in the past to double cleanse using two different cleansers but always ended up being lazy about it. So, when I discovered the Pixi Double Cleanse, I had to buy it.

Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse.

So first off, if you haven’t heard of Double Cleansing before, I’ll guide you through it. It’s basically using two different cleansing products at night to remove all the day’s gunk gathered up in your pores and makeup too, of course. Essentially, you need an oil based cleanser first and then a lighter gel or cream after. The first step is to remove dirt from the surface of the skin and the second is to remove anything left over to really clean the skin.

The Pixi Double Cleanse was created in collaboration with Caroline Hirons, who I’m sure you’ve all heard of but if not (where have you been!?), Caroline is a blogger and qualified advanced aesthetician whose blog I adore when it comes to skincare recommendations. So, I knew that this product was probably going to be worthy of my money as I trust Caroline’s opinions and reviews a lot.

This is a 2 in 1 cleanser, one side (the first step) contains a solid cleansing oil that is used to break down and remove the day’s makeup and dirt. I had never used a cleansing oil before this one and it feels so luxurious on the skin! One thing I will say is to try and avoid using this to remove eye makeup as it really stung my eyes! Probably not my wisest move, hey?. The solid cleansing oil contains some lovely ingredients including Vitamin E and Primrose Oil.

The second step is the lovely lightweight cleansing cream used to remove any leftover makeup and nasty stuff. I will also sometimes use this to remove any eye makeup as, as I said before, the oil is a bit too much for that area! The cleansing cream contains Vitamin C and Peptide complex which helps plump the skin. After this step, my skin is left grime free, looking nourished, all prepped and ready for the next skincare step. I have been loving using this every night, my skin feels and looks like it’s had a good pamper every time!

For my lazy self, this 2 in 1 cleanser has been a welcome addition to my routine. Housed all in one tub, it’s easy and less time consuming. I love the sturdy packaging, however, I do wish it was perhaps a little bigger as I can’t see this lasting me very long and whilst at £24 it’s not the most expensive cleansing product I’ve owned, it’s still not cheap!

I can safely say, I’ll never go back to using just one cleanser in the evenings.

Three Moisturisers to Try.
I have been cursed with the dryest skin so as you can imagine moisturisers are a prime step in my skincare routine to soften, smoothen and hydrate my parched skin. I have three day moisturiser favourites that I swear by and opt for every morning to rehydrate my tired, dull skin. Today, I thought I’d share these with you..
Specially formulated for dry/dehydrated skin, Speed Plump is my go to most mornings. I usually find moisturisers made for drier skin tend to be quite thick but this is silky-light and sinks into the skin within seconds. Perfect for pre-makeup application! Not only that, it’s got the nicest watermelon scent and contains some fabulous ingredients such as raspberry stem cells to help provide elasticity and marine plant to smooth wrinkles for mature skin. This also gives my skin a nice dewy glow which as you know I’m obsessed with.
This budget option is probably the best I’ve tried! I can’t get enough of the Naturally Radiant range, it’s incredible and cheap, what’s not to love!? This cream is for Normal/Combi skin which I certainly don’t have but it still works really well on my skin. Not only does it contain SPF15, it also has a ton of skin loving ingredients such as Kiwi and Mulberry extract to help revive and even out skin tone.
On the other end of the price point, we have this cream from Gatineau! This can be used both morning and night and whilst it’s actually quite a thick cream once applied on the skin, you can barely feel it, it transforms into a really light cream that absorbs in seconds and leaves no greasy feeling. This cream is said to enhance volume by plumping cells and leaves your face redefined. I haven’t noticed any remarkable differences yet but it is a great moisturiser, one I’m cherishing as it’s pretty expensive!
Which moisturisers are your go-to’s?

My Favourite Glow-Getters for Spring.

I love nothing more than a dewy, glowing complexion. As I have rather dry, dull skin anything that promises to brighten goes straight in the basket! Over time, I have accumulated a lot of products I now swear by to make my skin look healthier, more radiant and glowing. Whilst I love radiant skin all year round, Spring is the perfect season to rock that lit from within look. Today, I’m sharing my top products from makeup to skincare that help me achieve luminosity.

My Favourite Glow-Getters for Spring.

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel |
Any cleanser can help awaken the skin but this one I swear by. It’s not cheap but it’s so worth the price tag, I love using this in the mornings as I find it really wakens me and my skin, leaves it feeling soft and looking bright and more radiant, all that dullness has vanished and I actually look well. I’m not kidding, my skin is so pale and dull, I look ill most of the time. Skincare products like this are now an essential for me. I’m running low on this so I definitely need to get some money together and buy another.

Pixi Glow Tonic |
I’ve not been using this that long but it has quickly become a staple in my routine, a forever repurchase! It really is no surprise that it is such a cult favourite. It contains 5% Glycolic acid which is a known glow-giving ingredient that gently exfoliates the skin to reveal a more healthy, fresher looking complexion. I’m also running low on this so a repurchase is definitely needed!

NYX Born to Glow Sunbeam Liquid Illuminator |
I love wearing this underneath my foundation as a primer or mixed with it to really perk up my complexion and give the sense of a natural radiancy as foundation alone is usually not enough. Sunbeam is the perfect choice for pale to light skin tones, it’s a pearlescent shade that has a gorgeous sheen to it. My only gripe with this is that it drys within seconds so if wearing alone you really need to be quick to blend so you’re not left looking like a sparkly disco ball. Yes, this is sparkly, but if you’re careful and blend well, it’s beautiful.

L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation |
I was going to feature my favourite Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation here but if there’s one foundation that beats it in terms of dewiness and radiancy, it’s this one. It’s the perfect light, summer base that I’m sure many will be donning when the warmer weather decides to stay put. I recommend this to everyone that wants a light, sheer foundation that gives the appearance of natural, healthy skin. If you’re having a bad skin day or just need more coverage in general, this isn’t the foundation for you. Coverage is very minimal!

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop |
Now we’re onto the highlighters and recently, I’ve become quite the hoarder. I’m addicted. Champagne Pop is my favourite for special occasions or when I want that highlight on fleek. (Did I really just type that? I swore I would never use that term, ha!) This is seriously pigmented, I still can’t get over that damn pigmentation. You really have to be careful not to go too overboard with this one, but I can honestly say even if you do, you’ll still look dazzlingly beaut. This champagne (obv) hued highlighter gives the cheekbones a gorgeous pop of radiancy.

theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer |
Another top highlighter favourite, this was the first highlighter I really fell in love with. It’s got a gorgeous honey tone and it’s certainly more subtle than Champagne Pop but it still packs a punch. I’ve been wearing this a lot recently as it’s the perfect everyday highlighter, it’s not too in your face but still gives that luminous glow to the cheekbones, cupids bow and anywhere else you apply highlighter.

Sleek Solstice Palette |
I’ll be honest and say I don’t wear this a lot but I have no idea why because it contains 4 gorgeous shades of highlight. All 4 are so different from each other but I’d imagine they’d each compliment every skin tone out there. Ecliptic is the only cream highlighter featured and it is the one I usually go for. It’s a gorgeous pearlescent nude. Hemisphere, a powder, is lilac and when blended transforms into a more silver metallic sheen. Subsolar, I was a little wary of as it looks quite yellow in the pan but when on the skin it is much more of a metallic white and lastly Equinox is a gorgeous peach gold which could also be used as a sheer blush on pale skin. If you’re looking for a highlighter palette but don’t want to splurge on the likes of the ABH Glow Kits, try this one out!

Makeup Revolution Blushing Hearts in Peachy Pink Kisses |
Marketed as a triple baked blusher, I find Peachy Pink Kisses is much more of a highlighter. It is seriously pigmented and leaves the skin with a gorgeous sheer peachy sheen. I love to mix all three shades together but sometimes I will opt for just one. It’s got a gorgeous silky smooth buttery texture and it does not budge. A great budget option!

Benefit High Beam |
Last but not least is my current go to highlighter from Benefit. I’ve really been loving this lately! It’s a stunning satiny pink liquid highlight that really gives my skin a whole load of luminosity. This is perfect for dry skin due to its liquid formula, it gives the appearance of fresh looking skin. I usually apply this in spots across my cheekbones and then brush on little to my cupids bow and down my nose. It really brightens up these areas!

Lush Haul; Valentine's Day Collection & More

When I first laid eyes on Lush’s Valentine’s Day collection, I just knew I needed to make an order. I got a little click happy and just chose all the things I would’ve liked and ended up with nearly £70 worth of goodies arriving at my door, but I have no regrets as it’s been a while since I treated myself to a large haul. Without further ado, here’s what I got including some non Valentine’s Day collection products..

Lush Haul; Valentine's Day Collection & More

The Comforter Bubble Bar |
This is my only repurchase in this haul, I had The Comforter before and I loved it but silly me didn’t realise I could break pieces off and ended up using the whole thing in one bath, oh dear. I was a Lush newbie back then, ok?! I’ve since learnt my lesson and I now know a lot of Lush products you can use a few times rather than in one go! The Comforter is made with some amazing ingredients such as Bergamot Oil and Cypress Oil which makes for a really relaxing bubble bath that leaves your skin baby soft after! Also pink bath water, what’s not to love?! This is also available in a shower cream which I’ve gotta try.

Rose Jam Bubbleroon |
I first saw this beauty over on Sophie’s blog ages ago and I finally got round to buying it. It’s so pretty and glittery, I almost don’t want to use it! Again, another bubble bar that turns your bath pink, I can’t wait to give it a try. It’s said to ‘pep up your spirits’ to leave your mind clear and boost your mood, sounds like a nice treat after a long, stressful day. It contains some lovely ingredients too such as Rose oil, lemon oil and shea butter.

Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar |
I’ve seen this amazing bubble bar everywhere in the past two years that I’ve been blogging and I always forget to buy it! I wouldn’t say I’m someone who is totally addicted to unicorn things (although I’m not gonna lie there are some really pretty unicorn themed items around!) but I love the look of this bubble bar. I watched a demo on Youtube and it looks like it creates an insane amount of bubbles. Ingredients include ylang ylang, lavender and neroli.

Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb |
Is this not the prettiest bath bomb you’ve ever seen? Based on a medieval love potion, it features real rosebuds and is scented with an alluring combo of floral orris root powder, rose and lemon. I can imagine this must just create the loveliest, relaxing bath.. here’s hoping anyway!

Lovestruck Bubble Bar |
The one item from the Valentine’s Day collection I knew I needed! The Heart Eyes emoji is one of my most used emojis and when I saw this I just had to have it. Ingredients include Sicilian lemon oil to cleanse, Geranium oil to tone and Petitgrain Oil to refresh. It’s got a lovely citrus scent too.

Prince Charming Shower Cream |
After disliking Snow Fairy’s overpowering sickly sweet scent (unpopular opinion, I know!), I decided to try out another Lush shower cream – this time I chose Prince Charming. It contains Sweet marshmallow root and Vanilla pod infusion and it’s scent is sweet but not as intense as Snow Fairy. It also contains cocoa butter and fresh pomegranate juice to leave skin soft and refreshed.

Cup O’ Coffee Face and Body Mask |
Oh my god, I love the smell of this. Anything that smells of coffee is a winner. I love drinking coffee but I also love the scent so this was a must buy. I’ve not tried it yet but it sounds incredible! It features roasted cocoa extract, vetivert and coriander oil. I feel like this would be a good mask to use in the mornings, if you have time. I get the feeling it would be refreshing and awakening, just like your morning cup of coffee.

Tea Tree Toner Water |
This toner contains tea tree water that is antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial which is great for spot prone skin. I wouldn’t say my skin suffers with spots that much but I do like to keep it to a minimum so prevention is key therefore I need products like these in my routine. As it’s a spray, I find it really refreshing which makes a change from my regular toner where I apply with a cotton pad which you can also do with this, if you prefer.

Roots Scalp Treatment |
I have always dreamt of having voluminous hair but I’m stuck with flat, fine and dull looking hair so I’m always looking for products to change that. I also have a really dry, itchy scalp so Roots sounded like something I needed to try. It contains mint to stimulate the scalp and hair follicles and extra virgin olive oil, nettle and honey to condition and strengthen the hair. The only downside is that it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, a known ingredient to irritate the scalp causing it to flake so I’m not really sure how this is going to work. I’ve switched to an SLS free shampoo because of my dry scalp so I kind of want to avoid any other SLS products. I might give this a try once a month and see how it goes.

The Kiss Lip Scrub |
I love Lush lip scrubs, more so the Bubblegum one because it smells and tastes sooo good! The Kiss is once again a gorgeous lip scrub with a beautiful scent however the taste isn’t so good. It’s rather disgusting. Now I love salt but wow this was way too salty. However as all Lush lip scrubs go, it’s very good at exfoliating and leaving your lips prepped. The cutest thing about this scrub is the little hearts on top, though they don’t last long!

February Favourites, Skincare, Makeup

February always seems to drag even though it’s the shortest month. Saying that though, 2017 is already flying by! But I am happy that it’s almost spring, the weather is getting slightly better (if we completely skip the force that was Storm Doris) and the evenings are getting longer which just makes me a lot happier in general. I’ve been trying out a lot of new products this month, I should’ve been on a spending ban but as I mentioned in my last post, My Recent Makeup Purchases, that went completely out the window!

So without further ado, here’s what I’ve been loving this month..

February Favourites, Skincare, Makeup

My most reached for eyeshadow this month comes from Tanya Burr’s line of cosmetics. Considering how reasonably priced these palettes are, they are such good quality like you’d expect from your more higher end brands. The palette contains 4 wearable shades – Nude Delight and Gold Coin are my most used shades, great for a nice subtle look when you don’t want anything too heavy. Nude Delight makes a great base shadow too. Enchantment is a stunning bronze with glitter chunks in it, it’s really beautiful and Bookworm is a lovely warm brown. I also love the packaging – it’s compact and would definitely be a palette to take with you travelling.
Since getting my eyebrows waxed and shaped at Benefit’s Carnaby Boutique in late January (I definitely recommend, by the way) I have started using my Benefit brow products a lot more than I used to. Goof Proof is a brilliant pencil which comes in 6 shades, I currently use 5 – Deep which I think may be a little dark for me, however, for now, it works. I will pick up 4 – Medium when I can. If you’re a bit cack handed and not a brow whizz, Goof Proof is your best friend. This makes filling and shaping your brows so easy.
I’ve already written a full review on these gorgeous liquid lipsticks from Stila here, if you fancy a read. My favourite shade is Perla and I can’t stop wearing it! A gorgeous dusty pink, I was certain this would wash me out but it doesn’t. I love the formula, it’s creamy on application and then dries to matte within a matter of seconds, super comfortable too!

This product is raved about by so many and I can see why. An exfoliating toner, I use this pretty much every morning to smooth out, brighten and nourish my skin to achieve a glowing complexion. I find this has reduced my pores, blackheads and the tiny bumpy spots I have on my forehead have significantly reduced too. I’m now running low but I’ll definitely be buying another.
My current go to facial oil, this is perfect for dehydrated, sensitive skin and contains a whole bunch of amazing ingredients such as Strawberry Seed, Chamomile, Arnica and Primrose Oil. It leaves the skin feeling calm and strengthened.
February Favourites, Skincare, Makeup

Adult colouring books are all the rage at the moment and I absolutely love them. When I came across this fashion flat lay book, I was over the moon. It’s a must have for any fashion fan, it’s a great way to just relax and chill out when you’re feeling a bit stressed or bored.
What have you been loving this month?
