First Impressions | Tony Moly

Many of you have probably heard of the brand, Tony Moly. A South Korean cosmetics brand with possibly the cutest packaging ever. After reading a few reviews on the brands products, I decided I wanted to try some for myself so I headed over to eBay (where they sell incredibly cheap!) and placed an order. Considering it was coming all the way from Seoul, I wasn’t expecting for my order to arrive so quickly but a week later, my delivery arrived at the door.

First Impressions | Tony Moly

I didn’t realise before placing my eBay order that in fact a few UK online stores do stock a very limited amount of Tony Moly products. Beauty Bay and Cult Beauty are just two of them. I’m quite pleased I ordered from eBay as it was cheaper and I got a few freebies too! I also didn’t encounter any problems which is good.

The product I was most excited about had to be the I’m Real Tomato Mask Sheet. I’ve completely fallen in love with sheet masks and much prefer them to regular face masks. You may look pretty creepy but they are more comfortable without that tight feeling plus I love that I don’t have to wash it off afterwards, I can simply massage any left over product into my skin.

The Tomato mask sheet is perfect for dull and dehydrated skin. Afterwards, your complexion is transformed and looks more radiant, healthy and glowing.

I had to try out the Brightening Eye Base. Not only does it have adorable Panda packaging but anything that promises to brighten my dark under eye area is always worth trying. This is a cream stick that you apply underneath concealer to help lighten the area, you then apply concealer and I’ve found that with this it applies a lot better, smoother in fact. It really does a great job at making me look more awake!

The other products I received were sample freebies which I was quite surprised to see included. I’ve not tried these out yet but I can’t wait to give them a whirl.

Have you tried any Tony Moly products?

Product Empties #3

Back in November, I posted my second Product Empties post. 5 months on, I’m back with a third instalment featuring all the products I’ve used up recently. This time round, it’s very skincare heavy, I have finished loads of skincare in the past few weeks which has been a bit of a pain as I literally can’t afford to buy any new products due to my upcoming travels! But when I get back, a spree is gonna be happening!

Lush BIG Sea Salt Shampoo
Seriously the best shampoo I’ve ever used! I’ve never raved about a shampoo like I have this one. I have uber greasy hair and I could never go a day without washing it until I used this, I can now go around 2-3 days which is something I had been dying to achieve for ages and nothing would work so I really adore this shampoo and as you can see I’ve recently finished two tubs! It gives great volume too and smells incredible!

Rituals Yogi Flow Shower Foam
I received this shower foam in a beauty box a while back and finished it quite a while ago too, it’s been sitting in my empties box for some time! From what I can remember, I loved the smell of this product, the Sweet Almond Oil & Indian Rose scent is gorgeous however Rituals suggest this turns to foam on contact with water.. Not true! It came out of the bottle as a foam and it would be quite difficult to dispense especially near the end, that is the only downside though! This left my skin feeling lovely.

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel
Pretty much everyone’s favourite Lush shower gel… but not mine. I had this for ages and never used it as I just have so many shower gels lying around my bathroom, it’s a bit silly how many I have really! I started using it recently and I have to say I don’t find anything particularly special about it – it’s average and I do find the scent a little overwhelmingly sweet. I loved it when I had a sniff in store but for some reason when I was using it, I didn’t really like it. I probably won’t be purchasing this next Christmas..

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish
I feel like I’ve mentioned this cleanser so much here on the blog but it is my favourite cleanser so that’s no surprise! I was so upset when I finished this up! I’ll definitely be re-purchasing this, it removes makeup so well and leaves my skin feeling amazing. There’s a full review on this popular cleanser here.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O
Another fabulous product for makeup removal! I really love this micellar water and having tried Garnier’s version too, I have to say I prefer Bioderma’s offering much more as the Garnier one can sometimes leave my skin a little irritated. I’ll be buying another bottle of this very soon!

Elemis Hydra Balance Day Cream
I love Elemis products but because they are so pricey, I have to rely on beauty boxes & samples to try out their products. The Hydra Balance Day Cream is actually for combination skin but I found it worked well on my dry skin leaving it feeling hydrated, soft and supple. A great moisturiser!

Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm
This has to be the best lip balm I’ve used and I’ve used a lot. It’s rich, thick texture really helps smooth out and nourish dry, chapped lips keeping them moisturised for hours. This little pot lasted me around 2 months which is great considering I applied it about a million times a day. I need to buy another pot asap.

Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum
I have to say that Caudalie do the best serums. This is the second one from them that I’ve tried and I love it, the other was the Vinoperfect Radiance Serum which was incredible. The Vinosource Serum is ideal for dry skin as it’s super hydrating leaving skin soft and refreshed.

Codage Paris Eclat & Energy Serum
Another great serum comes from Codage Paris. If you have tired dull skin, it’s perfect for you. It banishes signs of fatigue brightening your complexion and leaves your skin feeling amazing. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive but if you can afford it, it’s well worth the splurge.

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant
I much prefer liquid exfoliants over the usual scrubs as I have quite sensitive skin and scrubs can just be a bit too much and can cause some irritation. This exfoliant by Paula’s Choice has become one of my favourite skincare products as it really renews my skin improving my skin’s texture and appearance. If I ever have a breakout, this helps reduce the redness and clears my skin in no time at all. It’s also great at minimising the blackheads on my nose. A definite re purchase for years to come!

Have you tried any of these products?

February Favourites

Here we are again, another monthly favourites post! I feel like February flew by even with the extra day. But hurrah, March is here so thankfully Winter is now behind us and hopefully the warmer weather will arrive soon? We can hope! It also means one month until my trip to Amsterdam so I’m excited about that! Anyway, this month’s favourites are a little varied. It includes a rediscovery, a christmas present and the most stunning make up brushes ever..

February Favourites

When it comes to hair products, I’ve been always been a bit sceptical. I rarely ever buy them, most of them are samples I’ve received. This is because I find they never do anything, nothing ever changes, my hair always looks and feels the same. I’ve always thought of them as a fad. That is until I tried the Shine Spray from Label.M aka a product that actually works! This spray really transforms dull hair with it’s blend of bamboo, fig, echinacea and juniper. It also protects hair from the affects of hair styling and the sun’s UV rays. The result is gorgeous, glossy hair with a lovely shine.

A re discovery this month comes from Sleek and it’s their amazing Face Contour Kit in Light. I can’t believe I forgot I owned this. I’m not big on contouring but I’ve decided to give it another go and I don’t think I’d ever use anything else. It includes a silky matte contour powder that blends like a dream and a stunning illuminating highlighter to add a natural glow. The shades are the perfect match for pale skin!

In this month’s Birchbox, they gave us the chance to try out a product from their new in house beauty line, LOC. The LOC One & Done Shadow Stick in Champagne Problems is stunning and I’ve been wearing it a lot this month as it just makes life so much easier, just one swipe and you’re done. No need to blend with brushes so if you’re in a rush, it’s perfect! It also lasts really well without primer.

Back in January, I managed to pick up the beautiful Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection Essentials Set on sale from £64 down to £25 which was an amazing bargain and I’m so glad I bought them. Not only are they beautiful, they work well too. My favourite has to be the 300 Tapered Blush brush which offers flawless application of blush and highlighter.

A skincare item I’ve been loving this month is the Codage Paris Eclat & Energie serum which I’ve been able to try thanks to the Look Fantastic Beauty Box.. this serum is incredible and has become an essential in my skincare routine. It’s specially formulated to banish fatigue and ageing in tired dull skin and it does exactly that, my skin looks so radiant after use. I just wish it wasn’t so pricey!

The last item is my gorgeous Pandora bracelet that I got from my best friend at Christmas. I just adore this so much, everything about it is so thoughtful. I love that Pandora charms signify something special such as the Paw charm for my three dogs and the best friend charm that was bought along with the bracelet. I can’t wait until I can add some more charms as it does look a little bare at the moment!

What have you been loving in February?

Birchbox 'Shine Bright Like A Diamond' February Beauty Box

February’s Shine Bright Like A Diamond beauty box from Birchbox is without a doubt my favourite box I’ve received since I first subscribed in March last year. Only last month, I was considering cancelling mainly due to the fact that I could save £13 each month but also because I wasn’t overly impressed with the contents of January’s box and hadn’t been too keen on a few of the previous ones either. However, February’s box contains so many great products, I’m totally staying onboard with it for now! As usual, this month’s box is filled with 6 beauty treats with one being from Birchbox’s own newly launched beauty line, LOC (Love of Color).

Birchbox 'Shine Bright Like A Diamond' February Beauty Box

Birchbox 'Shine Bright Like A Diamond' February Beauty Box
(L-R) LOC One & Done Shadow Stick in Champagne Problems, theBalm Frat Boy Blush

Firstly, Birchbox have launched their own beauty line, LOC which stands for Love Of Color. They gave us subscribers the chance to pick which shade of their One & Done shadow sticks we would like to receive. The options were Champagne Problems & Perfect Cents.  I chose Champagne Problems as Perfect Cents is an intense, metallic copper shade and I already own a few similar. Champagne Problems is stunning on the lids, super pigmented and creamy. The first time I used this, I went without primer and wore it for around 5 hours, it did not budge one bit! Birchbox claim this can last for up to 11 hours and I can certainly believe it!

When I read we would be receiving a brush by Spectrum Collections this month, I was so excited! I’ve been lusting over these gorgeous, one of a kind brushes for a long time! The Tapered Finishing Brush is just beautiful. *heart eyes emoji* I almost didn’t want to use it but I have and It’s perfect for use with bronzer and highlighter.. The synthetic bristles pick up the right amount of product and it feels super soft on the skin. I’m in love!

theBalm’s Frat Boy blush is also included this month. Such a gorgeous blusher that can also be used as an eyeshadow. The sample is super tiny but it really does pack a punch, so you can still get a good feel for the product. It’s incredibly pigmented!

Next we have the Korres Milk Proteins 3 in 1 Cleanser. This is a cleanser, toner and eye make up remover that is said to be extremely gentle and allows your skin to breathe. Rich in vegetable oils and milk proteins emulsion which will cleanse, tone and remove all your face and eye make up, dirt and sebum. You can use this cleanser either by rinsing off or removing with cotton pads. Skin is said to be left soft, hydrated and supple.

The AYRES Body Butter in Pantagonia smells incredible and leaves my skin feeling soooo soft. Formulated with natural plant emollients, herbal extracts and vitamins to soothe and moisturise. Pantagonia contains a soothing mix of jasmine, lavender, ylang-ylang and fir. I love this stuff!

The bonus beauty item this month is the Derm Eyes Makeup Remover Wipes which as you can see from the picture, they have the longest name ever! These makeup remover wipes are perfect for sensitive eyes, those with delicate eyelids or contact lens wearers like myself. I’m not a huge fan of makeup remover wipes these days, I much prefer giving my face a proper cleanse but I will give this a try and see what it’s like!

I can’t wait to see what Birchbox have in store next month! Hopefully it will be another great box, fingers crossed. Want to sign up and see for yourself? Use my link here and get £5 to spend in their awesome shop!

Cleansers On Rotation; Bioderma; Eve Lom; Liz Earle; REN

Cleansing is one of the most important parts of our skincare routines. It removes make up, dirt and grime that can build up throughout the day. It also creates a base for the rest of your skincare routine and allows for other products to work properly because after all, it’s useless using toners, oils, serums etc on a dirty face! Since I started blogging a year ago, I’ve really got into skincare and have built up quite the collection of cleansers, it’s quite silly how many I have sitting in boxes in my bathroom waiting to be used (I blame subscription beauty boxes, mainly!). However, I have a few favourites I’m constantly rotating between sitting on my skincare shelf..

Cleansers On Rotation; Bioderma; Eve Lom; Liz Earle; REN

THE HOT CLOTH CLEANSERS:

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish
This cleanser is basically my holy grail, my most used cleanser. Ideally, I like to use this in the mornings as it’s cooling on the skin, a great way to wake myself up. However, it is great at removing make up including stubborn mascara so I do often use it in the evenings too. This cleanser is so rich and creamy, it leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft and smooth, it’s no wonder it’s won so many awards! Ingredients include Rosemary and Chamomile.

REN Rosa Centifolia
This is a fairly new addition but it’s quickly become a favourite! Very similar to Cleanse & Polish in that it’s super rich and creamy and is also a hot cloth cleanser. First impressions of this cleanser are good, it leaves my skin hydrated, smooth and radiant without that tight, dry feeling. This cleanser smells beautiful too! Ingredients include Rosa Damascena Flower Water and Cocoa Seed Butter.

THE BALM CLEANSERS:

Eve Lom Cleanser
I tend to use balm cleansers like this one from Eve Lom in the evenings to remove make up, especially if I’m wearing a lot of it or if my skin is feeling a little dry and congested. I’m not a huge fan of that greasy feeling so I do tend to reach for my cream cleansers more often but I do love this balm cleanser as my skin feels so hydrated, clean and nourished after use. Ingredients include Eucalyptus and Clove Leaf Oil.

Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser
Another cleanser from Eve Lom and funnily enough I’ve never used this in the morning. This is a quick, easy to use gentle cleanser with no need for a muslin cloth, great if you’re feeling lazy or in a rush (perfect for morning, I suppose!) as you can just rinse off with water. Very similar to the original Eve Lom cleanser and contains the same signature blend of plant oils and leaves the skin decongested, exfoliated and toned whilst pores are visibly reduced and collagen production is boosted. Ingredients include Sunflower seed oil and Carrot root extract.

THE MICELLAR WATER:

Bioderma Sensibio H2O
Since discovering micellar waters, I honestly couldn’t live without them. There was a time recently when I had 3 on the go.. Currently, I only have this bottle of Bioderma, but it’s running low so another purchase needs to be made, asap. Bioderma is probably my favourite, followed by Garnier and I really want to give L’Oreal’s version a try. They’re so good for when you’re feeling lazy/tired and can’t be bothered to stand at your sink for ages massaging cleanser onto your skin. A few wipes on a few cotton pads and you’re done, make up is off and you’re ready for the rest of your skincare routine.

What’s your favourite cleanser?
