Recent Makeup & Skincare Buys

Hi, everyone! I’m back after a well needed two month break from blogging, I was certainly not in the right frame of mind to be sitting down writing blog posts, it’s been a tough few months. Not only that, I couldn’t think of anything to write about, I felt like every post was just a repeat and every product I talked about, I had mentioned the same things about in a past post. So the break was a good thing. So, here I am with some new products and new ideas. This blog is going to have a few changes in the coming weeks and I hope you like them 🙂

Today, I thought I’d show you what I bought during my break away from blogging. Not everything will be featured today as they’ll be in an upcoming Birthday Haul post!

So, I was in Superdrug recently and saw they had a 3 for 2 offer on,  I obviously took advantage and picked up 3 items from L’Oreal. The Infallible Fixing Mist was something I’d had my eye on for some time having never tried a fixing mist before. I have to say I’m not 100% sold on this. Does my makeup last any longer? Not really. It sometimes leaves tiny white spots across my face and neck and I have no idea why, I always shake it before use and spray it in the X & T motion, as suggested. Thankfully, though, it doesn’t do this every time. However not a good look when it does! What I need to do is really test it out in this heatwave we’re having at the moment!

I also picked up a L’Oreal Color Riche Collection lipstick in Eva’s Delicate Rose. This is one of the most beautiful lipsticks that I own! It’s stunning. It’s a matte formula and is no doubt one of the most comfortable matte lipsticks that I’ve tried. It almost feels as if you’re not wearing anything on your lips! The shade itself I would describe as a rosy pink. I’m certainly going to try more from this collection.

Ignore the smudge. Damn nails.

The last of the L’Oreal products is the Brow Artist Shaper. Now, I’m not the best at the whole eyebrow thing. I wouldn’t say I have eyebrows ‘on fleek’ (that always makes me giggle) and I have a hard time trying to get them looking okay, but this product has made it a heck of a lot easier for me. It’s so simple now. I love it! It’s a 3 in 1 pencil. On one end is the pencil to fill in and on the other is the clear wax to fix your brows. Then on the lid is a soft brush. If you’re a bit cack handed with your brows like myself, give this a try.

Whilst in Superdrug, I also picked up their Naturally Radiant Day Cream as I needed a new day moisturiser. Even though this is only £6, it is really on par with other moisturisers I’ve tried from the likes of Elemis and Clinique. Even though this is for Normal/Combination skin, I find it incredible for my dry skin. Not too heavy for the day time but gives enough moisture and leaves my skin feeling soft. It also contains SPF 15 which is always a bonus.

Thanks to doing surveys over on Valued Opinions, I earned myself a £20 Boots Voucher. After being skint for weeks, it was nice to go out and treat myself to some new skincare. I had run out of toner and serum at the same time which was a bummer so I needed to repurchase those. I loved the No7 Soft and Soothed Toner and as it’s cheap I decided to buy it again, it really does make your skin feel super soft!

I’d never given the Botanics range at Boots a try before but have always been intrigued so I picked up their All Bright Radiance Concentrate Serum and the Radiant Youth Hydrating Eye Cream. Both have worked so well for me, I have certainly seen a difference in my skin since first use.

The last purchase is not really a purchase but a mag freebie. But I had to purchase the magazine, so y’know? Benefit’s new Brow collection looks amazing so when I heard that ELLE magazine were going to have the Goof Proof Brow Pencil as a freebie, I had to have it. Unfortunately, the shade in the magazine was not the right one for me, it was far too dark and it looked awful, however, I did like how it filled in my brows so when I saw Benefit were doing a SoPost (free samples, all gone now, sorry!) I jumped at the chance as you could choose your own shade, I haven’t received it yet but here’s hoping it’s the right shade as I really like the product itself and want to test it a bit more before I make a splurge..

Whilst browsing eBay the other day to see if there was anything of interest, I thought of a new blog post idea where I share recent beauty bargain finds (makeup products, tools etc) on eBay, this will be a series and I will share what I’ve found with you every few months. Obviously buying make up on eBay isn’t always the best, it’s home to a lot of fakes but there are also a lot of genuine sellers and products if you look hard enough. There are also some very good dupes for things such as makeup brushes. It is obviously up to you whether you trust the seller and the products you’ll be buying. Just always follow your instinct.

Tony Moly I’m Real Masks // 11 Kinds // 3 PCS // £2.64 || LINK
These Tony Moly sheet masks are incredible! You can buy 11 kinds thanks to this seller and you will receive 3 in your order and if you’re lucky, some freebies too. I have ordered from this seller and they are completely genuine and post your order out to you quickly.
Cosmetic Make Up Brushes // 10 PCS // £4.95 || LINK
How cute are these pink brushes! In the set you get 5 eye make up brushes and 5 face brushes. I have bought non-branded brushes before and have never had any problems. These brushes have a great rating from other buyers.
Small Makeup Blender Sponge // £1.15 || LINK
Why spend £16 on a Beauty Blender when you get a similar sponge on eBay for under £2? It seems crazy to me that someone would spend that much on a sponge. Regardless, I haven’t tried the Beauty Blender but I can’t see how much of a difference it would make. There are 8 colours available to buy.
LA Girl PRO Concealer HD // £3.29 || LINK
A concealer I’ve wanted to try for a while, so I have bought it and I feel pretty positive that it’s real but I could be wrong, I’ll have to wait and see when it arrives. Seller has positive feedback on this product, so I’m hopeful. If you don’t want to risk it you can buy this concealer on BeautyBay for £5.00 and £1.95 on top for shipping.
Flat Kabuki Brush (NARS Ita dupe) // £1.49 || LINK
A great dupe for the NARS Ita brush which costs a whopping £43!
Brushegg Silicone Makeup Brush Cleaner // £2.89 || LINK
I own a few of these and they make brush cleaning a breeze! It’s so much quicker, you can read a review here.

W7 In The Nude Palette (And More W7 Palettes) // £4.95 || LINK
W7 aren’t generally an ‘expensive’ brand however this palette does retail at £9.99 so there’s quite a bit of money to be saved buying on eBay. A lot of people rave about how good W7 palettes are!

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick // £2.90 || LINK

Again, Maybelline aren’t considered expensive but the Color Sensational lipsticks retail at £6.99. There are quite a few shades sold out but there are still some gorgeous ones available. I quite like the look of ‘Rubis Diamonds’.. tempting!

Have you ever found a great beauty bargain on eBay?

April Favourites

Another month, another favourites post. Although saying that, I never got round to doing one last month due to everything I had going on in life so this post is long overdue, I am probably including a few products that would have been featured in March’s favourites to be honest. But never the less, these are the products I’ve been loving and using a lot recently!

April Favourites

Let’s start with the obvious. If you’re a regular reader here, you’ll have seen me mention MAC Brave on what feels like a billion occasions. I’m obsessed ok? But yes, I do feel as if I’ve mentioned this lipstick at least once in most of my posts recently but I guess it shows how much I love this shade of lipstick. It’s so pretty. Best described as a pink-beige shade, I just can’t get enough of how lovely it looks on my lips. And it’s satin formula is incredible, semi-matte so long lasting and non drying with great pigmentation. Best purchase in a while.

I used to just apply my concealer with my fingers, it never gave a great finish but it did the job and I didn’t really think any more of it. I then came across these little sponges, the Mini Power Puffs by W7 Cosmetics. I had used the bigger Power Puff sponges to apply my foundation with and loved them so I had to give these a go as they are the perfect size for concealer application. And they are so good! The tear drop shape allows me to easily access hard to reach places and creates a flawless and smooth finish to my concealer, I will definitely never go back to applying concealer with just my fingers!

Another favourite for the under eye area is the Tony Moly Eye Brightening Base. Before I apply my concealer with my Mini Power Puffs, I use this to brighten and hydrate the area. It also makes my concealer apply better and last longer. Not to mention it has the most cutest packaging I’ve ever seen for a beauty product.

Now that it’s finally getting sunnier and warmer (hooray), I’ve been loving wearing lighter bases and my skin has been loving it too. The Bourjois City Radiance foundation has been pretty much perfect for this time of year. It has an anti dullness formula that boosts radiance and gives your complexion a natural, glowing appearance. It also contains SPF30 to protect your skin from the sun.

I haven’t bought much in the way of new make up recently so I’ve been ‘shopping my stash’ as they say. I’ve rediscovered my love for the MaxFactor Creme Puff Blushes and I’ve been wondering why on earth I stopped using them because they are so good! I own two shades and my favourite is Lovely Pink. The best shade on offer for pale skin, it’s subtle and just adds a hint of colour to the cheeks.

Lastly, a non beauty related favourite that I had to include. My trip to Amsterdam was definitely the highlight of April. After going through quite a hard, worrying time during mid-March it was just what I needed and I completely fell in love with the city and it’s beautiful scenery. You know you loved it when it’s a place you want to go back to! I’ve written one post on my trip already here and there will be another one or two to come. I hope you enjoy them 🙂

What have you been loving in April?

First Impressions | Tony Moly

Many of you have probably heard of the brand, Tony Moly. A South Korean cosmetics brand with possibly the cutest packaging ever. After reading a few reviews on the brands products, I decided I wanted to try some for myself so I headed over to eBay (where they sell incredibly cheap!) and placed an order. Considering it was coming all the way from Seoul, I wasn’t expecting for my order to arrive so quickly but a week later, my delivery arrived at the door.

First Impressions | Tony Moly

I didn’t realise before placing my eBay order that in fact a few UK online stores do stock a very limited amount of Tony Moly products. Beauty Bay and Cult Beauty are just two of them. I’m quite pleased I ordered from eBay as it was cheaper and I got a few freebies too! I also didn’t encounter any problems which is good.

The product I was most excited about had to be the I’m Real Tomato Mask Sheet. I’ve completely fallen in love with sheet masks and much prefer them to regular face masks. You may look pretty creepy but they are more comfortable without that tight feeling plus I love that I don’t have to wash it off afterwards, I can simply massage any left over product into my skin.

The Tomato mask sheet is perfect for dull and dehydrated skin. Afterwards, your complexion is transformed and looks more radiant, healthy and glowing.

I had to try out the Brightening Eye Base. Not only does it have adorable Panda packaging but anything that promises to brighten my dark under eye area is always worth trying. This is a cream stick that you apply underneath concealer to help lighten the area, you then apply concealer and I’ve found that with this it applies a lot better, smoother in fact. It really does a great job at making me look more awake!

The other products I received were sample freebies which I was quite surprised to see included. I’ve not tried these out yet but I can’t wait to give them a whirl.

Have you tried any Tony Moly products?

Product Empties #3

Back in November, I posted my second Product Empties post. 5 months on, I’m back with a third instalment featuring all the products I’ve used up recently. This time round, it’s very skincare heavy, I have finished loads of skincare in the past few weeks which has been a bit of a pain as I literally can’t afford to buy any new products due to my upcoming travels! But when I get back, a spree is gonna be happening!

Lush BIG Sea Salt Shampoo
Seriously the best shampoo I’ve ever used! I’ve never raved about a shampoo like I have this one. I have uber greasy hair and I could never go a day without washing it until I used this, I can now go around 2-3 days which is something I had been dying to achieve for ages and nothing would work so I really adore this shampoo and as you can see I’ve recently finished two tubs! It gives great volume too and smells incredible!

Rituals Yogi Flow Shower Foam
I received this shower foam in a beauty box a while back and finished it quite a while ago too, it’s been sitting in my empties box for some time! From what I can remember, I loved the smell of this product, the Sweet Almond Oil & Indian Rose scent is gorgeous however Rituals suggest this turns to foam on contact with water.. Not true! It came out of the bottle as a foam and it would be quite difficult to dispense especially near the end, that is the only downside though! This left my skin feeling lovely.

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel
Pretty much everyone’s favourite Lush shower gel… but not mine. I had this for ages and never used it as I just have so many shower gels lying around my bathroom, it’s a bit silly how many I have really! I started using it recently and I have to say I don’t find anything particularly special about it – it’s average and I do find the scent a little overwhelmingly sweet. I loved it when I had a sniff in store but for some reason when I was using it, I didn’t really like it. I probably won’t be purchasing this next Christmas..

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish
I feel like I’ve mentioned this cleanser so much here on the blog but it is my favourite cleanser so that’s no surprise! I was so upset when I finished this up! I’ll definitely be re-purchasing this, it removes makeup so well and leaves my skin feeling amazing. There’s a full review on this popular cleanser here.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O
Another fabulous product for makeup removal! I really love this micellar water and having tried Garnier’s version too, I have to say I prefer Bioderma’s offering much more as the Garnier one can sometimes leave my skin a little irritated. I’ll be buying another bottle of this very soon!

Elemis Hydra Balance Day Cream
I love Elemis products but because they are so pricey, I have to rely on beauty boxes & samples to try out their products. The Hydra Balance Day Cream is actually for combination skin but I found it worked well on my dry skin leaving it feeling hydrated, soft and supple. A great moisturiser!

Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm
This has to be the best lip balm I’ve used and I’ve used a lot. It’s rich, thick texture really helps smooth out and nourish dry, chapped lips keeping them moisturised for hours. This little pot lasted me around 2 months which is great considering I applied it about a million times a day. I need to buy another pot asap.

Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum
I have to say that Caudalie do the best serums. This is the second one from them that I’ve tried and I love it, the other was the Vinoperfect Radiance Serum which was incredible. The Vinosource Serum is ideal for dry skin as it’s super hydrating leaving skin soft and refreshed.

Codage Paris Eclat & Energy Serum
Another great serum comes from Codage Paris. If you have tired dull skin, it’s perfect for you. It banishes signs of fatigue brightening your complexion and leaves your skin feeling amazing. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive but if you can afford it, it’s well worth the splurge.

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant
I much prefer liquid exfoliants over the usual scrubs as I have quite sensitive skin and scrubs can just be a bit too much and can cause some irritation. This exfoliant by Paula’s Choice has become one of my favourite skincare products as it really renews my skin improving my skin’s texture and appearance. If I ever have a breakout, this helps reduce the redness and clears my skin in no time at all. It’s also great at minimising the blackheads on my nose. A definite re purchase for years to come!

Have you tried any of these products?
